Bathroom shower installation

Paul and his crew were very professional. Paul kept use informed every step of the way, making sure the new shower met our needs. The house had a tub only and we had it removed by Paul and replaced with a glassed in shower with a bench.

Paul kept the job site very neat. Dust was minimal. The quality of work was excellent. It is exactly the shower we were looking for.

Thanks to Paul and his crew

Main floor renovation

Hawkeyes Renovations did a complete kitchen remodel, L/R, D/R, front hall reflooring
Paul gave a very detailed quote, but allowed me to make changes as the work progressed with no fuss. He offered suggestions and answered my questions with no hesitation
Paul looked after all aspects of the job. Plumbing, electrical, tiling, hardwood install, stairs install, painting, and other small repairs that came up as a result of the renovation. I much appreciated not having to coordinate other trades. It was nice coming home each day and see his crew had cleaned up. Paul kept us up to date on their progress and what was happening on a daily basis. There were no surprises
The entire team is very professional in their workmanship. The attention to details is evident throughout the main floor. They were respectful of our home, my family and our 2 dogs. (2peoe work from home), and Paul provided time lines when inconveniences to their working would happen (electrical, plumbing).
Along the way I made changes or requests and Paul accommodated me with no hesitation. Paul suggested vendors for my cabinets, granite counter tops, outside doors and sink/faucet fixtures which made this part of the process so easy!
I requested new stairs during the project to match my new hardwood floors and Paul made new ones and stained them to match exactly. He even got rid of the squeaks on the stairs!
Our family is extremely happy with the completed project. Its like walking into a new house
Paul will be doing our second level renovation - bedrooms, bathrooms next year (earliest I can get him and the team back)
Highly recommend Paul and his team for your renovation project. Quality work from a very nice group
of people.

Bathtub and surround new fan and switches

Paul was very quick to come and give an estimate. He was very honest and upfront with the entire process. There was a delay in the materials that were out of his control. When the reno started, he realized that he was sent the wrong tub. In less than 48 hours they were back to work with a substitute at no extra charge. I am very happy with the final result and would certainly recommend Paul and his team.

Kitchen Renovation

Paul and Brendan were fantastic to work with for our kitchen renovation. This was our first reno weve had done and Paul was great at answering all our questions and concerns. His honesty and reliability made us feel comfortable and trust that the best work was being done. Paul was sure to follow up with any questions we had once the reno was complete. A year later and we are still thrilled with the work that was done, and would absolutely work with Hawkeyes again!

Bathroom reno

We bought an 100 year old home with the ugliest bathroom ever. We were a little nervous about getting a reno as the previous owners had done some very poor quality work in the home.

Paul came out and made us feel very comfortable. We had some delays getting started with covid complications and Paul was very patient. Specifically the window we wanted was very delayed. Paul was great at working with the window company to make sure everything was spec'd correctly.

As the work got going, Paul and Brandon worked hard and consistently to get the job done. There were some surprises like the hot water tank falling and so really bad plumbing configuration. Paul talked us through each item and helped find solutions that worked.

Now we have the most beautiful and high functioning bathroom ever.

Once the work

Our basement renovation project

My wife and I had new concrete floors poured and interior waterproofing installed in the basement levels of our side split home. We would require a home renovator to finish the basement levels once the foundation waterproofing work was complete. Naturally, we obtained quotes from a few renovators in our area, none of whom though gave us the vibe of yes, this is renovation company for us.

Luckily we received a strong recommendation from a neighbor to contact Paul Varey at Hawkeyes Renovations. So we called Paul and invited him to our home to scope out our project. After spending some time with us one evening we knew without a doubt that Paul was the renovator we were going to hire. He just seemed kind, honest, and experienced, and we were impressed with his portfolio of completed contracts and his online reviews. Paul priced our project and provided us with a rough estimate as to when the project would begin and how long it would take. Bear in mind, this was during COVID when supply chains and material costs were in disarray. By the time our renovation was set to begin, Paul fairly readjusted our quote to reflect the lower market material costs since prices had fallen from the previous COVID inflated prices.

When renovations began, Pauls crew consisted of himself, his brother-in-law Allan, Allans son Ryan, and Paul's associate Brandon. They consistently came every morning and worked throughout the day. They purchased and delivered all the materials focusing first on leveling the floor followed by the installation of Dricore and framing. Shortly after that, they moved on to complete new plumbing, joist bridging, insulation and vapor barrier, followed by drywall and mudding, bathroom tiling, and trim. My wife and I were very pleased with how fast and efficient the work was being done. They were also extremely patient with us when it came to design decision changes we made during the build regarding rooms, overall floor layout, as well as suggestions from our city inspector.

When it came to scheduling, Paul was very transparent. He disclosed to us that while our project was the primary focus, he did have a few other smaller jobs he needed to address on specific dates. This is noteworthy because many contractors (we came to find out) do not disclose this, and theyll often work parallel jobs with no real sense of priority or urgency to complete your job. So not only did Paul keep us informed with his other projects, but we never had the sense that he was slowing down our project or diminishing its priority. He also strategically scheduled his parallel jobs so that on the dates they were away from our site, they had at least someone at our home working on other phases of the project (such as mudding and bathroom tile work). Holidays aside, It seemed like no matter what, our project continued to be pushed closer to completion.

Having experience dealing with bad contractors, I tend to persistently question why and how things are being done by contractors during the construction process (regardless of a given contractor's expertise). Despite this, no matter how annoying my questions or second-guessing may have been, Paul and his team never hesitated to professionally provide thorough explanations to address any concerns or doubts I had.

In the end, we were so pleased with the work that was done, that we hired them a second time to renovate our upstairs bathroom as well as some exterior home detail work. Now that the work is complete we can honestly say that we miss them being here. Pauls a great dude running a great company with a really great crew to get the job done. Do we recommend them? Yes, we most definitely do.

kitchen renovation and main level flooring

From a co-worker's recommendation, we used Hawkeye's for main bathroom renovation and were so impressed we had Paul renovate our kitchen. After his initial measurements, Paul worked with us and provided a virtual design that evolved to include flooring on the entire main floor. Paul's recommended vendors were a pleasure to work with.
The crew from Hawkeye's were professional, knowledgeable and their attention to detail was really appreciated. Our dog approved of them also. Paul was frequently onsite and worked with us on the evolving design. The time line was adhered to and the project finished on time.
Thanks
