Energy Audit - lack of integrity - steer clear!
The auditor was very nice, but there were errors in the report. He made assumptions and observations about the home and subsequent renovations that were incorrect and refused to make changes even when the errors were pointed out and substantiated. Substantial energy efficient upgrades were made to the house and submitted to Enbridge as part of their grant program. Because of the errors in the audit, we were short-changed several hundred dollars in grant money.
The issue was escalated to a supervisor who agreed that an error was made and it would be corrected and he would personally take care of the discrepancy with Enbridge. There was no follow up. No indication that the corrections were made and no subsequent reimbursement from Enbridge.
Energy audits are generally a fairly straightforward process but rely on the experience, professionalism and integrity of both the auditor and the company they represent. Most consumers have no insight into the software, modelling and building science and as such will gladly take whatever is presented to them. As a building scientist myself, I knew what I was looking at and was able to catch the errors.
There are many other energy auditors out there. I would suggest consumers choose wisely and stay away from Barrier Sciences Group. Buyer beware!!
