I had the back door not closing tight. I called the company and I was told there’s a $55 dollars visit fee but they could not tell me their prices and that the technician would. The technician called and said he couldn’t tell the price range unless he comes over even though I explained the issue to him. When he came he said this will cost me $250 job and that it would need 50 minutes to an hour work. It sounded expensive but I accepted since I had to pay the $55 anyway. I assumed that the $250 includes the $55 and the technician never specified that it didn’t. The entire visit did not take 30 minutes including 10 minutes getting in and out of the car and 5 minutes checking the door and 5 minutes arguing about the price. No materials were required, just manpower. Then he handed me the total which was 250 + 55 + taxes. I told the technician that he did not tell me that the $55 was on top of that. He said that he did and that I did not hear which is not true. I told him I will pay to end the argument and that I will complain to the company. I called the company and the lady on the phone was utterly and aggressively defensive. I asked how they could justify an approximate 10 minutes job at this price that didn’t require any materials. She said if it needed materials it would be additional cost. I asked again about how they price for manpower per hour, she answered that it is not priced by hour but by job and that the price is fair. I asked if she knows the price is fair how come she wasn’t able to give me the price when I called, she told me that she did about the $55! The company seems to benefit only from the $55 and then they pass the jobs to independent technicians. The technician that was assigned for our job took advantage of this; he wouldn’t give a price range over the phone, then when he comes he gave a high price knowing we had to either pay the $55 for nothing or accept his offer. He pretended it was a 50 minutes to an hour job to make the price more justifiable but it took just a few minutes. He later added the $55 on top of the price even though he did not mention it letting me believe it was included in the $250 and then pretended he had mentioned it but I am 100% sure he did not.
