Knight Carpentry Inc

This was my third time working with Knight, but it was by far the largest project they took on for me. We needed to replace our deck, which was 16x10 feet, with a new deck. The old was was built very poorly and was actually separating from our house.

When Ben the estimator came to look at the site, he immediately noticed the problems with the old deck. He was knowledgeable and took a lot of measurements to ensure his quote was accurate. We had drawings of what we wanted our new deck to look like, and Knight was able to provide an estimate based on those drawings.

In discussions with Jeremy the owner (who was even answering my emails while on vacation in Greece) we determined the timeline for construction and a start date.

The crew showed up exactly when they said they would to do the demolition of the old deck and to pour the concrete piles for the new deck. We were having some electrical work and some landscaping work done after the demolition but prior to the construction, and Knight's crew was able to work with our other contractors to ensure everything was done in the correct order.

The day construction was scheduled to begin the crew showed up at 8:30 a.m. and worked through until 4:30. I was watching as they were working and you could tell they were taking the time to get everything exactly right. They were constantly measuring, levelling and adjusting to get everything perfect. They took the time to walk me through what they were doing each step of the way, and they explained how the construction would proceed step by step. They were more than willing to answer all my questions. For someone like myself with very limited construction experience, it was reassuring to have a clear understanding of the whole process.

The next day there was a massive dump of wet snow, and I honestly would have understood if the guys couldn't continue the work. However at 8:30 a.m. they arrived again, and continued their work with the same precision as before. They painstakingly brushed the snow off small areas as they screwed in the deck boards, and repeated this step many times.

The whole project took about a week of workdays to complete, and we were even able to make some small modifications to the design as we went (including a door for access underneath).

They day the project was to be finished, I noticed a very minor error in a finishing piece. When I pointed it out to Ryan (who was incharge of the construction on-site) he insisted on fixing it, even though I thought it would be too minor to worry about. The following day (which was a Saturday) he came and corrected the error. I was so impressed by his dedication to ensuring I was 100% happy with the results.

Without hesitation, I would recommend Knight Carpentry for any construction project a homeowner would need. The crew is easy to work with and it's clear they are professionals who know exactly what they are doing.

They were 100% committed to making sure I was happy with the result, and even with my amateur drawings they were able to understand clearly the look we were going for and what we wanted the new deck to look like.

Jeremy and his crew are honest, fair, hardworking and extremely skilled. I am looking forward to working with Knight again in the future.

We hired Knight Carpentry to remove our old deck and build a new cedar one. Jeremy kept in touch throughout the process and was very informative about materials--explaining pros and cons of each. We really didn't know much about deck-building and he answered all our questions quickly and addressed all our concerns. He even attached our old deck stairs to the back door (until the new ones were built) so we wouldn't be inconvenienced during the construction process. The new deck looks fantastic and the craftsmanship is lovely.

all in all...it was a very good experience and I would strongly recommend Knight for carpentry projects.

We did have a few hiccups and delays but they always answerwd phone calls and texts. They got the job done right and it looks fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to call Jeremy back for future projects.

I even had a few minor cuts that needed to be done and he did them for me without hesitation.
