My project was very challenging for many reasons, including high ceilings and painted ceilings. Mustafa did an excellent work doing some overnighters to complete on time within a reasonable price. He is the textbook example of a professional contractor. Don't look any more

I hired this company to smooth the popcorn ceilings in my place. They came for 3 days and then never finished the work. They left my place with so much dust and dirt and the ceilings not even halfway finished. They smoked in my condo, did not protect my floors from damage, didn't clean up, verbally abused and threatened me, swore at me, and threatened the security guards in my building.

We had Mustafa come to remove popcorn ceiling throughout our home. We asked a few companies on HomeStars to quote us and picked Stucco Master as Mustafa took the most time to explain to us the process, had competitive prices, and was not only the owner/negotiated jobs, but also the one that actually did the job.

We are incredibly satisfied with his work, with the following highlights:
> Knowing that we were entering into a long reno phase, Mustafa took the initiative to help us cover the flooring throughout the house and also offered to loan us his lockbox (which has been extremely handy).
> He was very flexible with timing. As we were coordinating many projects at once, we had to ask him to delay for a week to squeeze another project in; he was extremely accommodating.
> Mustafa really cares about doing a good job, ensuring that all ceiling work performed looked perfect, at all times of the day / light conditions. Where I thought the ceiling already looked fine, he found flaws and corrected them.
> What really impressed us was his willingness to look out for our best interests. We had removed a few older potlights and also had rooms where the ceiling was flat. To ensure the whole house looked great, he helped us patch the old potlight holes and repaint the smooth ceilings to ensure that everything matched, all after we locked in the project price.
Overall I'd highly recommend Mustafa for any popcorn ceiling removal jobs.

For those looking to get their ceilings smoothed, here are a few of my tips:
1) Get the potlights and any other ceiling work done first; this will ensure the ceiling will stay pristine after the job is done.
2) Popcorn ceiling removal is extremely messy and dusty job, no matter how much things are covered and cleaned up. If you can, do the project before moving in and painting walls.
3) The project shouldn't be rushed. Multiple coats need to be applied and we were more than happy to accommodate to the job timeline.

Mustafa was a pleasure to deal with. I interviewed several contractors. Many of them were fine but Mustafa demonstrated a sincere knowledge and interest in his craft. He explained several technical issues and challenges and how he would address them. As an owner operator, I also felt comfortable knowing I was interviewing the person who was going to do the work (i.e. not the salesman)

The quality of work was very good and he took the time required to make sure the detailed work was done and re-done where necessary. I never felt like he was racing against the clock to get to his next job at the expense of the quality of my project.

Stucco removal is a very dusty and messy project. Mustafa utilizes high tech equipment (Festool Planex..Google it) to help control dust. However, dust is still inevitable, so be prepared. Extra prep where required goes a long way.

The only thing I would recommend is to try to better organize tools and equipment at the end of the evening to make it easier to move around the house after hours.

Moustafa remobed the popcorn ceilings in our condo and re painted every wall including the doors and ceiling. Removing the stucco is very tough work, it's time consuming and messy but he did a tremendous job and our ceiling is perfect. Our walls are we also done very wall and we are very happy.

It is the little things though that made the experience possible and as relaxing as home reno's could be. He worked as long as he needed to work to get the project done. he met me at my work to get my keys so he could get started earlier (I had made an error Sndccirgotten to leave them at the concierge), he is a pleasant to be around and a Very nice man, in a 900 sq ft condo it makes it easier to enjoy the company of the contractor working in your home. Also after we had paid him, some dry spots appeared and he cMe back to fix them as well touch up some spots we didn't even notice which was fantastic service!

We wanted to remove our popcorn ceiling on our upper floor and in our skylight. Mustafa had no issues doing the work despite my hesitations because of the scaffolding required. However Mustafa assured me all would be fine. He didn't lie, we couldn't be happier with the work he did, our ceilings and skylight opening look like they've always been smooth and the finished paint looks great, there is no trace of the popcorn ceilings. We were so happy with Mustafa's work that we also asked him to paint all the bedroom walls as well. I would and will use Mustafa again when I have to remove some additional popcorn not only because of how great his work was but because of the honesty and dedication he works with. He is an absolute gentleman, his pricing is more than fair, he was far cheaper than any other quote we received and even when we added the painting of the bedrooms his price was still lower. My father-in-law saw his work and spent some time talking to Mustafa and is ready to use him on his renovation in the spring. As a bonus he even brought us some of his mothers homemade rice and beef patties so we could try some of his families traditional food!

My wife and I couldnt be happier with our choice to use Mustafa and Mode Renoz and will be more than happy to recommend him to our friends and family.

After reading several reviews on HomeStar, Stucco Master was one of five companies we contacted. All of them simply sent me an email with a cost estimate. Mustafa from Stucco Master was the only person that actually called me back and followed up to discuss the details. Before providing a cost estimate, he asked several pertinent questions and it was clear to us that he was thoughtful in providing his cost estimate. He also took the time to explain the detailed process involved in the renovation along with the anticipated timelines.

He accommodated our tight timelines as we had to schedule it with our other renovations and ensure the work was done before we moved in. He takes pride in his work and took extra time and effort to correct all imperfections. For example he was not happy with how our living room ceiling looked under different lighting at night time. He insisted and undertook several coats to smooth out all imperfections without any additional charge.

Overall we are very pleased with his workmanship and he met and exceeded our expectations. His pricing was very competitive as compared to the other quotes we received.

We would definitely recommend Mustafa and would not hesitate to call him again if we needed this type of renovation again.

To say I am thrilled with the results would be an understatement.I have a small one-bedroom condo in a 30 year old building where the popcorn finish was sprayed directly onto concrete, and had been painted at least once. I searched for a contractor for over 6 months, wanting to find someone who understood the difference between removing from drywall and removing from concrete. Several contractors told me 'no' on the phone - they didn't do apartments because of the extra challenges. I finally found Stucco Master. Mustafa was thorough when he came out to give me a quote, measuring everything and explaining his process. It makes a huge difference that he is a plasterer by trade, rather than a drywaller. His quote was right in the middle of all the quotes I received; price was a consideration, but not the primary factor. After meeting with him, I decided to also have him repair some walls and trim (holes from mounted shelves, poor quality where a wall was added but not joined properly to the ceiling, water damage from the apartment upstairs, wrong material used to join baseboard seams together, etc) and prime/paint all the walls, trim and doors. I had smoked in the apartment for 19 years, and of course the smell had become embedded in everything, but he told me he could solve that as well.The results? Perfection. The ceiling is perfectly smooth. The line where the walls meet the ceiling are all straight (I was told by several people not to expect this, since the ceiling was probably wavy). The transition between the kitchen (which did NOT have popcorn finish) and the hall (which DID have popcorn) is seamless. The trim looks amazing - I really hadn't known how bad it was until it was fixed. The smoke odor is gone, thanks to him adding a mild but lovely scent to the primer throughout. Even though he had to work some very late nights (while respecting the condo rules about noise), the work was done on time and on quote. I can't say it enough - I am thrilled with the results. Mustafa was able to accomdate my very tight timeframe; removed the popcorn ceiling and even painted my walls an baseboards, before I moved into my Yorkville condo.

I just bought a new house and we used SM to change the popcorn ceiling to smooth ceilings. Mustafa's work was excellent, finished on time as he had promised and we had no issues what so ever. The ceilings were professionally finished and all the dirt was removed from site. We are happy with his work and would recommend it highly.
