Our experience with Caspian Renovations was very similar. At first, very professional and personable. But we noticed tiling jobs were bad, painting was bad, always asking for more money because he lost the money we gave him, TWICE, and he didn't know how it happened. He was also going to be evicted from his apartment and needed the money. We thought that we would never get the vanities and counter-tops we paid through him since he "lost" the money. We were ready to kick him out and take a loss until he promised to deliver. He wanted to do other jobs in our house and asked for an advance before he started. We didn't do it! He also did the wiring by himself and now I am worried if it was done correctly. The shower head and faucet did not line up with the bath-tub drain because he screwed up and we made him correct it. Screwed up the tile in the process. The shower head in the new shower enclosure did not allow the door to open and we had to scramble to find a curved shower spout so the shower door can open. Committed dumb mistakes that he should have been wary of if he had any experience. The washrooms look much better than before he started, and no job is ever perfect. However, it was torture wondering if he would deliver and if he would stop asking for more money. We think he had financial problems, which means, we had to bear the brunt of his personal problems. We will never risk the embarrassment by recommending him to our friends since this behavior seems to be his MO.
