warranty issue for emerald cedar trees
The clients first delivery of trees was planted april 20th 2017, the job was completed in multiple deliveries of 8-10 trees at a time. The final load of trees was installed on June 5th 2017. Near the end of the deliveries there was 4 dead trees from the first delivery. 4 trees were given for free from one of the latter loads and the 4 dead ones were replaced. The rest of the trees were all alive and doing well. At this point we were already at the 90 day warranty for the first delivery of trees. I was very very explicit in making sure the client understood he must notify me of each trees AS it died. I made it clear that the warranty is very strict as we sell thousands of cedars a year. I did not hear from the client until october 4th 2017. This is 5 months after the last delivery. The warranty for this particular client was 90 days, as we extended it for him from the regular 30 days because he was buying so many trees. Even though the client isn't entitled to any trees under the warranty, I have been trying to accomadate him. I never did tell him he was outside of warranty as we had a fantastic rapport and I genuinely wanted to replace the trees for him as he had made an investment. During one point of our conversations, i informed him that I had no 12 foot trees remaining, i actually went and acquired a new field of trees solely for the purpose of him to dig out replacement trees of which i was paying for. I spoke to this client a mere 2 weeks ago when i sent him pictures of the trees. I never received a request for a day to go dig. Now we are here.

You were provided with an estimate of cost. Not a contract. Your estimate was based on the post holes being dug by yourself. Upon commencement of the job, the post holes were not properly spaced so, we verified that they needed to be re augered. We completed the augering of the fence post holes, which was the result in the increase of final cost. You were charged a very fair price of $20 per post hole as the ground was very rocky and there was alot of wear and tear on the auger. The final price was not double, it was just over $1000 and the original estimate was for $750. You did not lend us a saw. Our generator reqired a repair, we informed you it would result in a delay of job completion. You then offered to rent a generator so the job wouldnt be delayed. The fence was completed within 4 days, and looked beautiful. Compliments were recieved several times by the neighbours who stopped in to admire the work. Once completed we did a walk through with you, you stated specifically that your wife loved it, and it looked great. You claimed you had to go into town for an errand and that you would pay us later that evening. We were met with multiple excuses for weeks with reasons as to why you couldnt meet with us to make our payment. After 90 days I sent your account to collections, you then tried to claim that the fence was poorly crafted, and that you would not be paying your bill. You tried to offer me a $350 dollar settlement. I refused. Your account is still outstanding 1 year later. You filed this review only 3 months ago. Should there have truly been a problem with the fence, you should have notified us, and we would have corrected any said problem. We stand behind our work 100%. However, you never filed any grievance, no statement of issue, untill I sent your account to collections. Your review according to the Home stars guideline is technically invalid, as your review needs to be based on a financial transaction, which it was not, as you have not paid 1 penny for your beautiful fence. Your fence is pictured on our website as it was well done. Please enjoy your free fence.
