Swimming Pool sales, Installation and service
While this post may seem a little unorthadox, I just couldn't let a few of the reviews and comments herein go unchallenged. I am speaking on behalf of myself as well as the entire staff at Tav Pools. Having worked in the pool industry for a number of years, The name Tav Scovino had become known to myself as well as most people in the business and, he has always been highly regarded for his honesty and integrity. A pool company is certainly not difficult to find in Durham Region. They are plentiful to say the least. A pool company with the moral conviction to actually turn down work when it is in the best interest of the customer is rare. I've personally witnessed Tav walking away from jobs that could easily yield $30,000.00 and more because the ground conditions in and around the customer's property would likely develop into future problems for that homeowner. I've personally witnessed Tav send a crew of workers to customer's homes to fix, repair, and in some cases, even replace components on their pool at no charge. Even when it was not the responsibility of Tav Pools to do it. Simply because of his deep belief in "Whats Right". In this city where pool companies seem to "spring up on every street corner", One has to ask how Tav Pools became the success story it is. We respect and value our customers. We appreciate their patronage. Because, without the support of our customers, we wouldn't be here. And, without the level of service and integrity we offer, I highly doubt we'd have that support. When I first applied for a position with Tav Pools, He told me "Say what you mean and mean what you say".. Sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes Tav won't tell a customer what they might want to hear but, I can assure you, what he tells you.....You can take to the bank! In addition, Tav is human. He will welcome criticism. He will listen to complaints, and, if possible, he will address them but, he is human. He doesn't "push", but I can assure you he'll "push back". Those who truly know Tav are invited to join me in this response.

This customer has a beaded winter cover that someone duct taped in 4 or 5 places to the sides of her pool instead of putting it in the track. Instead of water bags, we found this pool to be weighted down with 12" ceramic tiles which I promptly told her to never put around a pool for weight again. Because the pool wasn't closed properly, the winter cover was sunk in the pool and we had no way of retrieving it except to pull it out of the pool. There was no debris laying on top of the pool, and all these steps were explained to her and to her son during our extraction of cover and cleaning process. We clean all pool covers with a disinfecting agent that is designed to be put away wet. Any pool company will tell you this information. For some reason this customers filter system was taken apart in the winter closing and never put together again. Our pool opening does not involve reassembling the customers equipment after someone else has taken it apart. The pipes were all connected as we do with any opening. The pool was shocked and algaecide put in. The service that this customer wanted would be a 3-4 hour dedication and that would be a service team coming after being booked by customer and paid for, as nobody works for free. This customer and her son spent 1 1/2 hours at the store talking to Tav and to Paul about how to run their pool and after we spent this time trying to help them, they still came back to same point "When are you going to come and open pool properly?. This customer needs to call around and find out what exactly is involved with a pool opening. There are companies that offer maintenance programs but we do not offer that service and our work order with this customer was specifically for a "pool opening".
