Loyal Homes owes me money after I fired them from a job for which there was no contract. I prepaid them to do some work that was not completed. I paid them a total sum of $30,137.00 in 2 separate payments (I paid for all materials). I was very leery of paying them this money ahead of time but Gene assured me that I could trust him, he said he was short on cash and needed some help. When I prepaid them the second amount they basically stopped showing up to house to work, they were doing other work around town and now my job was getting behind. He took advantage of me not knowing much about renovations or similar work. Not only was I behind on schedule but now a lot of their work has to be redone and is going to cost me even more money.
- Some of the interior framing was not level
- No weather stripping around windows
- The exterior lights and plugs did not have the proper siding block on them.
- Tyvek was done from top down. Supposed to be bottom up.
- No drip edge.
- Stage 1 of the job was to finish the exterior with an end date of October 31st. On October 31st there was still 50% siding to be done, the back windows were not installed, back deck was not demo'd (I had to do it myself), shingles/soffit/fascia were not installed.
- The job end target date given to Loyal Homes was January 1st, 2015 and the rate that the job was progressing it would have been later maybe around mid-March. This target date was set because I am currently paying 2 mortgages. With the extra months added in I am losing a lot more money again.
- Some siding had no Tyvek wrap behind it.
- The fascia that was installed was done incorrectly and had to be redone.
-The roof had 8 inches of ice on it and water was leaking into the attic. This was a result of opening the ceiling and not putting proper poly back up to keep heat out of the attic. Now I may have a mold issue in the future.

At times I would ask Gene how many days/hours etc. that were spending on my job and I never got a true answer, I have friends that live on the same street and would keep an eye on it for me while I was away at work. Gene would say 5 days/8 hours per, when realistically it was 3 days/5 hours per. Since I have had Loyal Homes off the job I have brought in a new contractor and they have pointed out a lot of things that Loyal Homes was doing wrong with the house. Gene's own workers would complain about Gene's poor management skills and inability to complete a job or task on time. I am ashamed that I was taken for a ride by Loyal Homes Inc. And now I am out a lot of money because of my own inexperience and ignorance to that fact that Loyal Homes is not a very good contractor, they simply do not have the management skills nor the experience to even compete with the real contractors in this town. I might as well have done the job myself with my 11 year old son, we would hav ended up with the same result.
