Second Plumbing installed a backwater flow preventer valve in our basement. The work was done quickly, however it was not backfilled carefully and concrete slurry was added all at once. I asked the worker to ensure the top of the access box was level as plank flooring with be placed on top of it. It was in the kitchen/dining room portion of the basement. A few weeks later the concrete and access box sunk about one inch in an uneven manner and the box is also no longer square near the wall. I contacted the company and a number of messages back and forth where they said they are not responsible and that my inspector approved it, and if they came back to dig it up and the flow preventer is fine, then I have to pay the cost of the repairs, and also to ask my flooring contractor to fix it as they know what to do. I asked another plumber expert who looked at it and they said it is due to unproperly compacted backfill and improper procedure as it should have been poured in 2 stages to allow for settlement. My flooring contractor said the same and would be able to fix it for additional cost. I tried to work with Second plumbing and find a reasonable solution but they denied all responsibility. They are too busy to provide extra customer service when needed and based on my experience only want to do the quick and easy work and left me scrambling to find other plumbers to do more difficult repairs. Fei never called me back always deferring to Lily, the office administrator. They say they are super busy and one time gave me a quote to install a drain vent and then said they couldnt do it. They replied we need more manpower not more business. Clearly a company who does not look after their customers when they need them.
