I hired TMG Roofing and Eavestroughing to replace the roof on an older home. All seemed OK and I paid my bill. I later noticed defects and contacted Tim. I also hired an inspection company to verify the defects and they found even more. While there was a lot of calls and corespondance between us not one issue was repaired. I'm still hoping but am resolved that I'll be hiring and paying another roofer to reroof my house. Here is the list of unresolved defects.
Defective Summary
Roof
1. Main & Porches Roof Surface Material: Asphalt shingle - -Poor lapping of shingle edges at north roof
edge above porch.
-Exposed nail heads present in two areas and nail heads popping through shingles in three other
areas.
-Ridge cap shingles along top east peak are not centered, rear edge of shingles is lifting, this
could allow water entry. Lower peak near connection to front roof has a large dip where water
can collect and possibly leak.
-Gaps required at sides of roof vents not provided, this causes shingles to raise against vent
metal.
-Ice and water shield ends short at south west roof edge and at lower edge of north rear roof
above porch. This is a protection layer that should be installed to lower and side roof edges.
-Recommend repairs by a qualified roofing contractor.
2. Flashing: -Metal, Wood - -Caulking seal required at roof edge flashing where asphalt shingles
meet to prevent water entry.
-Gaps present between shingles and flashing edge at south front porch end. Weather and pest
entry possible here.
-Recommend repairs by a qualified roofing contractor.
Marginal Summary
Roof
1. Valleys: Metal - -North side valley is not installed with lowest point center, water will be directed
toward shingle edge.
-Recommend repairs by a qualified roofing contractor.
