From the beginning the deal seemed questionable. We signed with them on a weekend and by Monday the price of their houses had increased by $17,500. To be fair with us they said they would only make us pay $5000. Why the heck their sales centres don't know about a price change is beyond me, and maybe an indication of how things were to go.
We took possession just before Christmas and the quality of work is terrible. Full on paint drips dried in walls in every room. The exterior was filthy and still nothing has been done about it. They had to open my exterior wall to re-frame a window because it wasn't centred in the wall. The upstairs pony wall was so badly constructed. The wall could be moved with barely any effort and we had to fight numerous times and threaten to not take possession if it wasn't fixed. They hung the railings on the wrong walls and we still have a terrible drywall fix where they tried to cover it up. They've had our house for 6 trades days or more (I've maybe lost count) and still there are problems that need addressing. We were told by their service department "service is different than the builders and we'll make this right". Haha yeah. I've sent numerous emails and I've had to go above people and email the service manager but it still doesn't light a fire under these butts! The yard was littered with nails, saw blades, cut-offs from exterior pieces, garbage, etc. no communication between the staff at all and prepare to wait and wait and wait and wait for fixes to get done if you decide to go with these guys. I'm originally from BC and if a home builder conducted themself in this manner and gave a sub-par experience, they'd be through and done building. I'm not sure how sabal/hopewell stays around.
