We hired Rob to renovate our bungalow basement and a small one-car garage into a work studio. The reno began in May of 2018. While the original scope of work became more extensive due to add-ons and necessary electrical and HVAC upgrades, the renovations have yet to be completed. We are experiencing a similar situation to the "Yard Renovation" review. Rob has consistently over-promised and under-delivered for the past eight-month time frame that involves completing the job. Rob's subcontractors have been excellent; highly skilled and very professional. Rob, who does a lot of the work himself, is very skilled, however, has acted unprofessionally when it comes to completing the work.
While Rob does receives some positive reviews, he has proven to be utterly incapable of completing our renovation. In addition to incomplete work, we have been left with holes in the walls and floors from the electrical and HVAC upgrades which were completed last October. After committing to repairing the holes, Rob has now put us in the middle of himself and his subcontractors by claiming that it's not his responsibility to fix the holes. We have been subjected to months of reasons and excuses that have resulted in delay after delay. Everything from imposing his personal problems on us to not being able to continue a job because he claims he's run out of money (and yes after he was paid for the materials and labour).
Our renovation is at a standstill. We are frustrated from months of trying to pin Rob down to complete the renovation. Our only recourse now is small claims court.
