Wainscoting

CC provided me with a quote to do a relatively simple installation. They explained that due to the walls not being straight that the job was challenging. They estimated that it would take a week to complete. Thy provided me with a quote. To obtain a second opinion had another contractor provide a quote to do exactly the same job. They said the job was simple and could be done in half a day. Their estimate came in at 80% less than CC. The job was done and am very satisfied. ALWAYS get several quotes. You can save $000s.

Not happy at all

Cabbagetown Carpentry renovated a bathroom for me. The workers were very nice and polite but their work was not professional. The house and backyard were covered in plaster dust and dust from cutting tiles, the grout in the shower was messy, they took twice as long as they said at the beginning of the job, they didn't paint the finished work. I guess Johnnie fancies himself an interior decorator as well -- I wasn't consulted on the colour of the tiles or the new toilet. After the job was finished and I had paid the bill, I asked him to return to fix the improperly installed toilet and a leak from the shower. I never heard from him again. I have since learned that I am not the only one who has had these problems with Cabbagetown Carpentry. I do not recommend this company.

Johnny with Neil helped changed the appliances, cabinets, and counters in a small kitchen. They were clean and professional at all times and worked with me throughout the project to make sure I was happy with the results. Great work.

Great fix, great team

Johnny made time for a small bathroom drywall fix - and came 3 times to make sure it looked perfect. He always arrived on time, cleaned up and brought great energy into our home, along with his skills. Definitely my first call for my next job.

Family/Music room renovation

I used Cabbagetown Carpentry to do a challenging structural renovation to my 3rd floor attic room. Johnny and his crew did a spectacular job. The challenge was to replace an interior support beam and this meant having to get a lot of massive materials and tools up to the third floor and have the crew go in and out of the rest of finished house. So the job required heavy lifting and finesse at the same time. In the end, the safest and best way was to bring the twenty foot beam sections up to the third floor by carefully carrying them up 3 sets of stairs though the house. Johnny and his crew accomplished this cheerfully without damaging anything. The rest of job was handled expertly, getting the best result possible given the constraints of working on a 100 year old house. Johnny and his crew are excellent communicators and totally sensitive to the homeowners needs and concerns. Johnny was highly focused on making a difficult renovation a good experience and was constantly asking me if I was happy with how the job was going. He was completely transparent about costs, timings, and absolutely reliable. A joy to work with.

Replace kitchen counter

My kitchen counter had been damaged and having used Cabbagetown Carpentry for small jobs I thought they would be fine. Not so! The carpenter took wrong measurements and built the counter at his shop. The hole for the sink was wrong, the trim wouldn't fit properly and the boards were all splitting. It was a mess. A trusted friend and contractor said the counter needed to be taken out and the project fully restarted. Cabbagetown Carpentry did not agree. I am left with a kitchen that is an embarrassment. When I am ready to begin again I will look elsewhere!
