Hiring A-1 post hole was a huge mistake. The footings they dug started to sink after a few days and continued after the deck was built. The whole deck needed to be taken up and new footing put in. The company said they would replace them however kept delaying the return date. Finally we gave up and used someone else. Their excuses were wide ranging and in the end just wasted our time and left a concerned homeowner. I'm a contractor and we have used many footings contractors in the past but this guy takes the cake. I'm not sure were the previous reviews came from but our experience was terrible. Use caution when selecting this guy, if something goes wrong he won't be back.

If you need to build a deck, don't use this contractor!! Not only does he not know how to build decks he is rude and unappreciative. This guy asked us to dig 6" footings. I told him that it would not be big enough and I suggested he get his design approved by the city. He refused to get an inspection or even take my advice. Once his footings sunk he called and asked me to come and fix it. He argued that it was my fault. Even though our warranty covers the concrete, and there was nothing wrong with the concrete I agreed to go back and help him out. I had to postpone the job twice, once was because I got stuck on a job and could not get to him before dark and then the second time my machine broke. When I called to let him know that my machine broke (4 days in advance to give him ample warning) he screamed and cursed and was so incredibly rude. The fact that he decided to go with another company was his choice. I am still waiting on a part for my machine and had no problem going to help him fix HIS mistake. I hope that this time he used larger footings to support the weight of the deck he is building.
