They booked a date to complete the job within a week, arrived on time as scheduled, were fairly efficient at hanging a 50 inch television and a 24 inch television on wall brackets.
Customer forgot to mention that I gave them a free mounting bracket that tilts. Enjoy Guys!
TV hanging and Ikea install
I had high hopes for Igal when I read all of the good reviews but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
1. Igal showed up on time and with a partner, Alex
2. He was relatively quick hanging both tv's except that he had to redo one of them due to it not sitting straight on the wall where I wanted it to, and with the other, he offered his wall bracket at a cheaper cost and I explained I was concerned about how much it would stick out from the wall but when he said it would just be a little bit more with the added benefit of the tilt I said ok. Unfortunately the "little bit more" ended up being 2" more and had I known I probably would have chosen to keep my more expensive fixed bracket in order to have a flush install.
3. The bigger issue was with the Ikea install. His website clearly said "Ikea furniture assembly" so I expected him to be experienced. I think it is absurd that I called for a quote, I explained exactly what I needed done, and he gave me an estimate of 3 hours. Although this was more expensive than Ikea installation pricing I agreed in order to kill two birds with one stone. Well, it took them DOUBLE the amount of time and Igal refused to budge on his hourly rate which at this point ended up costing me FOUR TIMES MORE than ikea's installation services. I think it is completely unprofessional to not take the time and effort to give a realistic quote in order to give the homeowner a chance to make an informed decision. I never would have hired him had I known he would be charging me for six hours of work. It was a completely unreasonable price for the scope of work. Also, when I went up to see them after the 3 hour mark, he said it would take a "little bit more time". Not once did he set the expectation that it would take him double the time estimated. I totally feel ripped off and wish I had argued more and not paid in full.
4. This may be an inappropriate comment but one of the two workers had a really bad odor and it was quite uncomfortable for the 6 hours they were here.
They may be fine with hanging tv's and art but do not hire these guys for furniture assembly. Because of my experience I would not hire them again nor would I recommend them.
