Ontario Villa Construction

We were so impressed with Angel and his crews, I don't even know where to start. They excelled at the baseline stuff: punctual, friendly, good quality work, responsive, kept a clean and safe site etc. But here's where I'm truly impressed:

1) Creative Solutions
There were a number of places where Angel went ahead with a great idea he had, then took the time to show us and explain the reasoning behind it and offered other options if we preferred something different. For example, the walls around the windows in our basement addition. When the walls were being framed, Angel had his crew angle them slightly under the windows in order to maximize the amount of natural light coming into the room. This is tough to explain and sounds odd, but it looks great. He showed us how it was being framed and asked if we'd prefer it to be more "standard". He was happy to re-do the work if necessary, but wanted to show us after the framing was done so we would understand. Of course we kept it how he'd designed it -- it's a much better option. Another example is the location of our air conditioner. The air conditioner had to be moved as part of our renovation and he clearly gave the placement of it a lot of thought, before we even asked about it. He placed it on a bracket above ground level and built a custom box around it as part of the deck (which his crew also built). So now our deck has an awesome built-in bench as well--which I love. He made sure it would be easy to disassemble in order to service the air conditioner.

2) Useful Suggestions
As the project was progressing, Angel was very clear with recommendations on whether something really should be done, or whether it was just a matter of personal preference. For example, when the hardwood flooring on the main and second floors was taken out, he assessed the state of the subfloors. He told us that the subfloor was in bad shape on the second floor and really needed to be re-done. The main floor was a little more optional, according to Angel. He said that it would be ok to leave it, but it may still be a bit creaky. It really demonstrated his "customer first" approach--he clearly wasn't just trying to make more money at every opportunity.

3) Pride in Quality Workmanship
I was really impressed how the crew and sub-trades all took pride in their work. They weren't just trying to make a buck and move on to the next job. We showed up unannounced a few times and they would take the time to show us what they were working on and were clearly proud of a job well done.

4) Finished Ahead of Schedule
We moved back into the house a month before the contracted end date. A month! Angel would tell you that some of this was that we were lucky that we didn't encounter major obstacles introducing delay, but it is also because he is very efficient and does a great job with scheduling all the tasks and dependencies. His experience with managing permits and inspections was also helpful in getting everything inspected and passed efficiently.

Angel is a stand-up guy who is a pleasure to work with. A huge thank you to you, your crew and your subtrades for such excellent work on our home and for minimizing the stress and impact of the renovation experience.

I hired Angel and his crew to renovate my old home, waterproof my basement, replace the old knob and tube wiring and rebuild a staircase. Angel was great at keeping me advised throughout the process and his team did a good job keeping the style and character I was looking for. Even after the renovation, he came by to fix a few things and is always available to help.

Angel was initially brought to our home to fix a roof & a leaking basement. That was been the beginning of an ongoing relationship where any problem brought to his attention, be it millwork repair, painting, staining, caulking, stucco, drywall, mould, chimney repair - you name it and he'll bring back the correct talented people to work on the project and complete it in a timely, cost-efficient, clean & respectful manner. He's yet to say "no" to anything we've shown him! We've dealt with many contractors over the years and Angel and his crew are far above the norm. This is the contractor you want to have in your "contacts"!

Ours was a difficult renovation due to unforeseen structural problems in an old downtown property.
Angel and his team saw us through it all in a calm, organised way.
After all the horror stories about unscrupulous contractors, we were delighted to have such an honest hardworking professional group on our side.
We are very happy with the results and would definitely recommend OVC without reservation for any project.We will certainly be using OVC again in the future.

Angel and his team where the easiest contractors we have ever worked with, we truly wish we had met them when we built our home. They showed up on time worked non-stop and where more than accommodating when it came to changes during the process. They even finished ahead of schedule. It is my pleasure to write this review for the work you have done at my residence. We are very pleased with the renovation work to our ensuite bathroom (or should I say "retreat") In addition to the work you completed in our basement. Right down to the cinder blocks in our basement is how Ontario Villa Construction had to begin rebuilding after the flood of 2013.

Angelo and his crew came in everyday without fail with a professional plan and ideas to make our dream reno a reality.

This being an older home, there were many unforeseen obstacles to navigate through. Angelo and his crew made these challenges much easier to deal with, explaining in detail how to proceed. Even with the extra work that was involved , through Angelo's expertise and professionalism we were able to stay on our set schedule and most importantly our set budget.

Angelo and his crew always had a pleasant calm demeanour and always had time to answer our questions. We had a dream for our home and Ontario Villa Construction helped make it real and as stress free as possible.

We undertook the complete reconstruction of our two bathrooms through Angel. What impressed us , first of all, was the professional association he had with a design company that understood our requirements. The customised cabinets, counter tops, back splashes etc. were provided to our satisfaction. Angel is very customer oriented and easy to work with. BOTTOM LINE! My husband spends more time in the bathroom!

I would like to commend the great work of Angelo Stipo’s team. They are the best people to work with because they pay so much attention to what we really like. Angelo is the nicest, polite and kindhearted contractor. As clients, we were treated with regard and Angelo suggests more input on how things will look better on the professional point of view which was great. Also, we do appreciate his recommendations on where we could save a lot for this project. The entire renovation process was so tedious but worth going through with the kind of result we got. Small issues were dealt with immediately and no doubt they gave us the best customer service. The skills of the workers were impressive especially when they were doing the kitchen flooring because it was done with a lot of patience. As a result, we get lots of praises for our kitchen! We have only good words for the team… KUDOS!

Angel and his guys are personable, punctual (nice for a change) and HIGH QUALITY tradesmen. They completed a number of intricate jobs for us to date - including under pinning and structural framing. Very pleasant demeanor, knowledgeable and the real deal. Jobs were completed when indicated and any follow-up was promptly attended to (clean-up, parts, etc). Highly recommend them for any of your construction needs. They did not disappoint. Thanks Angel and we will continue to call on you for all of our renovation needs.
