Doug Pentland Painting

Doug has just completed two exterior paint jobs for me and I am extremely pleased with his work. He has a good eye for colour which came in handy helping me with my colour choices; both buildings look fabulous! His easy going nature is just a bonus.......

Doug did a fantastic job painting my house!

To give some background, my house was within a year old and under my home warranty there were some cracks and nail pops in some walls and the ceiling due to the house settling. The builder is required to fix these issues and bring them to paint-ready under the home warranty. So, I needed a painter to paint over these spots. I called several painters with great reviews on HomeStars, and all (except for Doug) said that the entire ceiling had to be re-painted on the main floor, and entire sections of the the ceiling had to be re-painted in the basement and top floor because they said it's too hard to blend the paint. They also said entire walls had to be re-painted even though the spots requiring paint were only a couple of inches in size. Doug was the only painter that said he can touch up only the spots. In addition, the first day he came out to give me the quote, he did a spot test with existing paint the builders had left behind to see how it would blend. It worked, and the price Doug gave me was therefore a fraction of what the other painters wanted to charge me. This showed me how honest Doug is.

I gave Doug the job and he fit me into his busy schedule when he could. In the end, he did an outstanding job! The touch-ups are seamless, and if there were any spots that I noticed required extra touching up, he was happy to oblige (which is saying a lot because I am SUPER picky, as Doug learnt about me!). The best part is it cost me a fraction of what I would have had to pay if I went with the other painters. The fact that Doug was able to seamlessly blend in the paint shows to me what a skilled painter he is. He treats it like an art, which is why he didn't need to re-paint entire walls and ceilings like the other painters. And, his prices are very competitive.

I will definitely be calling up Doug again with any future paint jobs that I need done. I already know that I will be calling Doug to paint my garage in the Fall or next Spring. Thanks for the top-notch work, Doug!

My husband and I received several quotes from various reputable painters across Calgary. We ended up going with Doug. His quote was very reasonable. He came the very next day to provide us the quote; moreover, his reviews were great on Homestars. He lived up (beyond actually) our expectations. He painted our entire main floor (including baseboards), as well as our hallways, master bedroom, bonus room, and front door. His work is great, paying very close attention to details. He was fast, but thorough. I was shocked to find him on his hands and knees one day, washing my hardwood floor, as he wanted to make sure there was no paint splatter on the wood.

My husband kept adding to Doug’s list. He helped him build a wood mantel and cover a ceiling beam in our new basement. Doug also stained it. It looks amazing and we are constantly getting positive words about it. He was also willing to teach my husband (who’s a newbie at the carpentry stuff).

Doug was at our house for approximately three weeks (after my husband finally ran out of things for Doug to do). He was super friendly and became particularly fond of our dog, a chocolate lab. Doug was so kind to give us a doggie break and on several occasions took him home for the night. I can tell you, our dog was spoiled!

Back to the painting, we have already asked him to come back in the spring to stain our cedar deck AND I’m sure we’ll have other projects for him too! I’d highly recommend Doug to close family/friends and others. Absolutely!

Doug was recommended to us by a friend in 2013 at which time he painted the exterior trim of our house and the interior of the garage. He takes pride in his work and he did a great job.He was punctual, thorough and cleaned up well. He is very efficient and worked hard and mostly works on his own, although he can bring in an assistant if required. In September 2014 we asked him to come back and stain our cedar fence. He has all the tools and equipment (used a sprayer for the fence) and completed the project on schedule. He is also willing to help with other work aside from painting.

Doug did an amazing job of repainting the exterior on our 40years old house. We had many quotes from some of the most reviewed and rated companies on homestar. We decided to go with Doug because he is very knowledgeable and price is very reasonable. Doug is a true perfectionist, he clean/fill/fix all surface before painting. He pays attention to detail and takes his time and does all the painting himself to ensure quality. Highly recommended and will definitely repeat for our other projects.

Doug was great. He worked with my schedule (which was tough), worked quickly, is a great painter and the bonus is, he cleaned up after his work (very rare in my experience). Would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Doug was also referred to me by my reno contracter. I needed the whole interior of my house painted and was very pleased at how fast and efficient Doug was. I was going away for 4 days and came home to a freshly painted house.
The paint job was very well done and he left no mess behind. There were a few touch ups needed and when I called Doug, he made an appointment to return and did them immediately...no problem.
I was very impressed with his work and professionalism.
