Interior Painting - Job Abandonment
After interviewing several companies I hired Abraxis in February to do interior painting based on their professionalism, guarantee to return for touch ups and promise they would be the ones doing the painting.
Once the initial job was underway I was impressed with their presentation, professionalism and dedication to getting it right. However, after 2 months of waiting on their promised touch-ups on missed areas and clean-up of spilled paint (all avoidable by experienced painters) AND sending a belligerent staff who yelled at us and hung up on us after he cancelled the final visit with 2 hours’ notice, they have abandoned the job.
We paid in full the agreed upon rate and are now required to hire professional interior painters.
I have no doubt that these guys do a great exterior job but they are inexperienced with it comes to interior painting where details matter.
As a gesture for not charging me for an accent wall they asked if I would submit a review to this website – to which I agreed during the initial painting expecting the job to meet my satisfaction and be completed in full. When they told me they are abandoning the job I told them, as promised, I would submit my review. In response they threatened to submit bad reviews on our business in retaliation to our honest feedback of our experience.
Be warned. Know what you are getting into.

For all readers ( more details about the project )
We have originally met the client in January 2015 for a quotation for interior painting of an older home ( 80+ years) . The clients are neighbours down the street and we got along very well with a good understanding on what they were looking to have done.
The client wanted a color change in a couple of rooms to achieve a new look. The home is an older home with plaster walls that have seen some excessive wear and tear through the years and slight shifting of the home as it settled .
After 2 weeks we have been selected, the client requested a lower price which was granted for a positive review. Clients also asked for a few extras-at no cost. Extras included replacement of door casements, baseboards and decorative trim around the stairs. As a fellow business and neighbour we agreed to take on the project and added extras to help with budget and secure another customer.
Upon commencing project and travelling to Toronto to match trim pieces, we had finished the project in 6 days. 2 days extra due to additional preparation and added work. The client had suprised us with extra accent colors as-well in the bedroom. We absolved all costs with changes.
Upon completion the homeowner pointed out deficiencies ( un-even walls, not straight cutlines, more baseboards they wanted to replace). Upon further investigation of the walls which were pointed out, it was clear that the wall itself was very damaged over 80 years of shifting. Straight lines were not possible due to the contours of the wall. However we performed extra repair work and corrected some lines but to no avail. After many touch ups performed homeowner agreed that the problem was in fact with the shape of the wall and the un-even ceiling.
Through the whole process , Abraxis Painting re-painted the entire home once more(absolving all material and labour costs- NO CHARGE - inclusive of all extra installations of trim & mouldings)
Upon completion, homeowners inspected all of the work and were staisfied with the project and cleared the balance. However 3 weeks later, we had been contacted for touch ups . We had been forwarded a list of the touch-ups that have already been performed and requested if we can fix some of the areas attributed with the damaged plaster walls.
We scheduled touch ups within a week, however client cancelled the day before
We scheduled another day for touch ups 2 weeks from the previously scheduled day, client had allowed us in to do extra compunding for plaster deficiencies. Some deficiencies also included scraping of old paint that was previous to our work done by another painter in the kitchen. After completing first wave of minor touch ups, client scheduled for us to come by later in the afternoon. Upon coming in the afternoon- homeowner was not present.
We got in contact with homeowner and gave them another day we could come- they had refused and demanded it to be done on their schedule- blaming us for the delays. They spoke with our staff very rudely and condescended the entire project even though it had been completed to the original scope of work. At this point we have given an extremely reduced price with many free add ons and extra discounts for a positive review.
After explaining that we could not come back, they threatened to post negative pictures and display touch-ups in mid-progress ( the ones we were unable to complete due to scheduling)
After the negative review ,we had offered to come back and fix remaining touch ups however we are currently waiting for a reply. Our core business values and priorities revolve around satisfying all customers no matter what the situation. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and high quality workmanship. Overall, we are very apologetic for your experience with our company and we will work to rectify the problem. Thank you.
