Awful, Run, I dealt with Martin , he is only a sales man fronting a west end shop. Gaps between walls and counter edges due to poor templates taken and sloppy manufacture. Agreed to miter joint for counter overhang it showed up and it was a visable butt joint. Polished cut edges sub standard, sink cut out not flush with sink and edge rough. Did not try to grain match on fireplace, Ruined hearth stone. I had to scour Toronto for an additional piece and pay a new company. New company had the hearth made and installed in 3 days perfectly , I had been dealing with Martin for 3 months at this point. Workers wear flip flops to the job site while caring stone slabs. Only reason I gave them the job was because I wanted routered in dish drain grooves that he said he could do ( yessing example) . Never happened strung me along until it came time to lay it out and said no we can only do them with a hand grinder ( A HAND GRINDER!!) and they will not be polished. Then he was upset when I made him take off the amount he quoted to do this. Total time waster, had me come to shop with my partner to look at hearth replacement slabs but as per Martin when we got there he had no way of moving any slabs around so we could not look at anything properly. When I pointed out he was not prepared and should not have asked us to come and was wasting our time, he yelled at me. Did I say run? RUN I get the sense his son is Uri mentioned in other posts and that Martin possibly takes the overflow and smaller jobs from his son's main commercial shop.
- Approximate cost of services:
- $4,000.00
- What could this company do to improve their services?
- Nothing because Martin promises things his shop can not deliver on a timeline he can no keep so he would have to leave the operation to improve it
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- He had a good rating on home stars so that was not a help. Ask to see the shop he works out of and see who does the work and the condition of the shop. Inspect previous jobs.
