Leaking Bathtub Faucet

Quick and efficient, but on the pricey (slightly overpriced) side which I suspected as they weren't able to give quotes over the phone nor tell me how much their hourly rate was.

That being said, the work took under an hour, but still cost $650. Things like being 24/7 is great, but I highly recommend shopping around unless it is an emergency. As a rule of thumb an hourly rate is usually around $85 and the parts have a retail value of $100. The job should have cost $300 max (including a 100% markup). An hourly wage of $500+ is excessive.

Buyer beware on this one. I learned my lesson.

Before anything let me clarify few things. The Delta cartridge image that you uploaded to HomeStars is INCORRECT, your cartridge is WHITE AND BLUE. This cartridges cost $67 to $99 + HST. We are not HANDYMAN, as such WE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HOME DEPOT. All of our Plumbing needs are taken care by professional plumbing stores like Noble and Wolseley where we obtain 100% GENUINE PARTS & ACCESSORIES, not SOME 3RD PARTY OR REBUILD PARTS.

Secondly, we told you on the phone that we DO NOT CHARGE BY THE HOUR but instead rely on our PRICE BOOK. You can do all the calculations you want and somehow come up to $300 but you forgot that we have to pay Insurance, Licensing costs, WSIB, Taxes, Vehicle, and we got Staff to pay, a HANDYMAN could have done it for $300 but you're forgetting that it is ILLEGAL for HANDYMAN to perform any work in CONDOMINIUMS.

And lastly we do not force people to sign and agree to our pricing, we did not begin the job and then gave you the bill. We gave you the cost outlay and upon you a) Initialing that you understood the task and price and b) Obtaining authorization signature did we start the job. As such you were 120% aware of the cost before the job, you could have gotten a second opinion and let us go at NO COST TO YOU, as we provide free estimate. But you choose to go ahead with our prices, and in the end it's too high for you now? As we said you could have gotten an FREE ESTIMATE and called someone else, there are plenty of people who work Saturdays, no? Also as rule of Thumb, Master Licensed plumbers can go up to $140+ /hour as per 2017.

Also NO REPUTABLE plumbing company provides over the phone pricing. As such we would ask that you refrain from making false accusations without providing all the facts and trying to bring down our reputation.

Leaking Hot Water Supply Line

Last Saturday we woke up to a bubble in the drywall of our dining room ceiling and water dripping at a rate of about 1 drop per second from this spot. I put a bucket under it and poked a hole in the ceiling to let any water out that might have been pooling up there. Then I came to Homestars and started looking for a plumber. The first one I called greeted me only with voicemail and I never got a call back. The next one I called said he didn't work on Saturday. Then I called The Toronto Plumber.CA and they picked up the phone right away and promised me they'd have someone there that day to help me. Huge relief just to get a live human on the phone that seems like they care that you have a problem - you know? So, then I get a call from Yuri and he says he'll be there in an hour. About an hour later he called me and said he'd be another 15 minutes or so because of traffic on the Gardiner. Nice that someone follows up when they're going to be late. Communication is everything, especially when you're helpless like I am when it comes to plumbing. Yuri shows up, we agree to the $180 fee for determining what the problem is. Cool, where do I sign? He had to cut a hole in the ceiling, of course, but not until he checked the rest of the house out to see what else might be going on. Could be a problem with the roof, after all the rain we've had in the last 2 days. So Yuri opens up the ceiling and the problem is the coupling between the plastic PEX hot water supply line and the copper line that goes to the bathroom fixtures. Yuri then gave me a quote to replace the line and said it would be $100 more to fix the cold supply line at the same time, as they both had been installed with the wrong type of coupling. It made sense to me that, while I had a hole in my ceiling, we should do both. Almost a week later, no sign of any trouble up there (I still have a hole in my ceiling, but we can fix that easily enough) and I'm very happy. Yuri was very professional and he worked hard to fix my problem. I was happy with the price and would highly recommend Toronto Plumber.CA.

Ice maker installation

We recently purchased a new fridge and we're looking for someone to hook up the ice maker. Our old fridge did not have an ice maker and as such new water line had to be put in. We called few companies, but decided to try this company based on others feedback. And I got to say the feedback of other customers is spot on. Alex from the Toronto plumber came in time, he clearly explained all work and showed us clear pricing. During the work Alex maintained a clean work environment and did very nice job drilling cabinets to run the water line from kitchen. Overall it was more then pleasing experience and we are extremely happy with our choice of plumbing contractor. Kudos to Alex and his company. Kevin & Linda

Bathroom (bathtub area faucet / pipes)

We researched a few plumbers and got different quotes and then we found The Toronto Plumber.ca (Alex and his associate Terry) through Home Stars. They are very professional and polite and I felt extra security in learning that Alex has many, many solid years of experience. I called them because of an issue in a rental unit regarding the bathroom/bathtub pipes/fixtures. The tenants reported that when the cold water was turned on slightly (like a weak stream), the tap or pipes would cause a really noisy racket and it only seemed to be getting worse because the water temperature would fluctuate when both hot/cold were on and then it would become scalding hot. Alex examined the problem, conducted many point / safety checks, clearly communicated the problem in a professional way so that I could understand exactly what was going on and completed the job with cleanliness and quality. The reviews from all the highly satisfied customers are true and now we are too! Lina – Toronto (East York), Ontario.

Alex is very polite and conscientious. He did an excellent job and left everything clean and tidy. As well as replacing the sink, he cleared the pipes in the bathroom, and now the new sink drains perfectly. We are very happy with his work!

Toilet and Sink Repair

Alex came referred from another reputable company.

He promptly telephoned me back, arranged to attend the next morning, and was extremely punctual. I appreciated that during our initial phone call he identified his precise arrival time, rather than a few hour period as some companies do, and he also answered my initial questions and explained the billing structure. This gave me confidence about what to expect, particularly since I had never used him before and I wanted to avoid any unnecessary expenses.

I would definitely use him again and hope that this review will help others who are looking for a new plumber.

He was efficient, fair and honest about the required repairs, and was also candid about what did not need to be repaired. He took the time to explain the source of the plumbing issues, and what could be excluded, before beginning the work. He also made a point of sharing his service and equipment knowledge, which again contributed to my understanding of the work that was being done and will also help me going forward with handling equipment replacement.

Alex also noticed a deficiency with some plumbing work in another part of my home and, after telling me, fixed it without charge, which further impressed upon me the care that he takes with his work and customers.

Kitchen Renovation

This renovation job required two visits to our condo. The first was to connect our new dishwasher. At the same time, I also requested that the existing shutoffs for hot and cold water in the kitchen be replaced with ball-type, 90° shutoffs, and that a 1/4" copper water line be installed, in advance of our new refrigerator being delivered. Alex took a few minutes to figure out the parts he would need, then went out and bought them. The work was completed very quickly after he returned, and everything under the sink was neatly connected in a minimum amount of space.

The second visit was to connect our new, 9" deep double sink, the day after our new countertop had been installed. This included the existing faucet, hot and cold water supply, and new drain pipes and connections throughout. Again, Alex took a minute or two to make a list of parts, and then he left to go get them. The work proceeded efficiently upon his return, and I was very pleased to see that he had managed to provide even more space under the sink. and that he had used solid brass pipes and connectors for the drain.

In addition, I should mention that on both visits, Alex was accompanied by an assistant and apprentice, Terry, who paid close attention at all times to the work being done, and who received tips and comments from Alex about the procedures and materials as he was working. It was a pleasure to see this type of "old-school" tradesmanship in action!

If I had one negative comment to make, it would be the obvious one - that the cost was higher than I would've wanted. But as they say, "you get what you pay for", and I got excellent work and excellent materials installed. Also, Alex showed me a printed price list for all of his services before beginning the work, so if I didn't like the price, I could have declined to have the work done before he started.

Thanks again, Alex and Terry. I will see you again when it's time to renovate the bathroom!

Dishwasher install and old dishwasher removal

We recently had to get a new dishwasher put in, as our old one sprung a leak underneath and could be fixed but we would have to wait very long time for the parts. So in order to save time we choose to just replace our 10 year old dishwasher, pretty sure it served itself over past 10 years. So ones we had purchased the dishwasher we called around the smaller local plumbers, toronto plumber was one of the companies that actually came to our house and gave us a detailed cost for the installation meanwhile other guys where giving us different numbers on the phone and no one wanted to come out and see. In the end, we choose to go with this plumbing company, they booked an appointment to come and install the dishwasher. Toronto plumber installed the new dishwasher for us, they tested all connections and made sure there were no leaks and even ran it for a bit to make sure everything is working fine. Very professional service and love that they were dead on the detail when it came to their work. They also helped me to take my old dishwasher to the curb so that the city could collect it in couple of days on garbage day.

leaking main shutoff valve repair

Had a new water heater put in – the installers noticed that my main shut off was leaking, they manage to install the new tank and advised me to call a plumber to fix the valve.
I had the old twist valve (garden house type). I found few plumbers but they were either busy or wanted $180 to just come and see the problem – did not seem to be too helpful over the phone. “toronto plumber” however ended up offering to come the same day at no charge and give me the price for the job.
They came on time – they offered me a few options and price points and explained the cause of the original valve failing and starting to drip slowly. After talking it over with my wife we agreed to do the job as we liked the service and explanation of everything, so after calling in to have city come and shut off our water we scheduled an appointment for next day. Alex and his apprentice Terry came as promised and got to work.
They used torch to remove the old valve and then nicely cleaned the pipes with some sand paper and even wiped the pipes – looks like new now. They showed us how to operate the valve and precautions I can take. Also showed me why the old valve failed. The city came Couple of hours later the city came and opened our water back up, I checked the valve and open/closed it few times, everything was working perfectly and there were no leaks. Extremely happy about the installation and care this guys put into doing there work. Will use them again for work.

Remove old dishwasher install new

From the minute I called him to the minute he left, everything Alex did was perfect. You pay for it, but I guarantee you it's professional and no mess, no fuss. The job was not a typical one, he did it without headaches and if his warranty is anything like the work he did and the scheduling he committed to then his full package is golden.
