Nice work but overcharged for the work. The owner, Ryan, submitted an invoice at the end that included a labour charge for considerable more time than the crew worked on our site (25 hrs in the final bill vs 11 hours of work). He took off (only) 8 hrs when we protested, so we ended up paying for 6 hours of labour that was not used on our job. I decided to pay it just so we could be done with this company.
I don't agree with charging for landscaping jobs based on an estimate of number of hours it should take, and then not revising it for the actual time taken on the job. He said it would be three days (25 hours) but they were only on site over two days for a total of 11 hours. They are not an auto repair shop that charges standard rates for certain procedures, or a doctor- they should get paid only for work done.
On Day 1 the installers had the wrong colour of interlocking stone material (one of two colours to be installed), and so they could do no further work until the correct interlocking stone was obtained. They had to get it in Barrie (the job at our house is in Collingwood). And he charged us for the time to go to Barrie and correct their mistake!
We also felt we should not pay labour hours when they are off site for lunch or picking up equipment at the start of the day. That stuff should already be on the truck for the next day.
Also, the prepaid deposit amount (several hundred dollars) was not noted on the final invoice.
Finally, when we protested and asked the owner to take some of the labour hours off the bill, he resubmitted a lower bill in an email with a threat to go to court if I didn't pay it in 15 days. There was absolutely no need for the nasty attitude, just because I caught him being dishonest on the bill.
Overall, the crew did nice work on the interlocking stone, but I will not use this company on future jobs.
