As anyone will tell you, buying real estate in the GVRD is not cheap. Thus a home needs to be as much an investment as a place to live which makes buying an even more stressful endeavor. Knowing exactly what you are looking at is the key to taking the stress out of the equation, which is why I am glad that I had Kevin of Harrison Home Inspections to help me when looking at a potential purchase. He was prompt, courteous, professional, knowledgeable and above all thorough. He took the time to explain what he was looking for, what he was seeing and how that could effect the property. He also patiently answered my (admittedly uninformed) questions as we went through the inspection. It truly was an education from how to care for the roof and chimney, to identifying electrical and plumbing issues, to drainage and the effect plants would have on property features (like retaining walls). At the end of the day the issues that Kevin identified allowed us to re-negotiate the sale price of our new house, but as importantly, gave me confidence in knowing what I was getting myself into was a good investment.
