Furnace motor repair

My furnace fan stopped working so I called AFG based on the reviews here. I ended up being disappointed. Here's the story with some pictures. I also have a record of all communications.

They were able to come to the house quickly and diagnosed what turned out to be the right problem. I was told that the motor module needed to be replaced. There was a small chance that the motor itself would need replacement too.

$700 plus $160 labour for the module
$1200 plus $160 layout for the motor
$250 for new thermostat incl labour
I gave the go ahead to proceed but questioned the pricing. After also being given a quite and recommendation to change the whole unit, I called back to put a hold on things to think about it.

I took a week of going back and forth to figure out what this module was that cost so much. I asked a numerous times for a part number. It was never given to me, In fact I was even told they didn't have it. Nothing I could see make sense, yet I finally relented and gave the go ahead to fix the module.

When he arrived, the part number on the module box was scratched out. I wonder why? But the motor's part number was still there (see photo). Google it yourselves to see that the real price is only a fraction of the $1200. Price correct for currency, duties, taxes and all you want, you'll never get close to this price.
Now look at the module that was taken out. Do you think this costs $700??
In fact, you only need to replace the $20 transistor within the module to fix it.
Upon payment, I was also going to get charged an extra 2% for visa. This was never stated before.

So yes I gave the go ahead and got knowingly ripped off but yes I got ripped off. Kudos to them for determining the right fix and not replacing the motor when it didn't need it.
