I had to replace a kitchen counter in my condo since I was selling my condo. The counter had a large stain and a bit of rotting near the sink. Home Building Renovation seemed competent when they came to give me an estimate and the contractor was prompt about getting back to me. The problem was the work was shoddy. Once it was complete, one end of the counter did not align properly with the kitchen cupboards below and it was very noticeable! The trim on a small section of the other end of the counter was left unfinished. My dishwasher was installed and screwed into the counter so that it was crooked. The black caulking that was applied where the counter meets the backsplash was very uneven and thick in areas so that it jumped out at the naked eye. Finally, one end of the counter had not been nailed down properly so you could actually lift it up partially! I called them back regarding the poor counter/cupboard alignment and the contractor did return, but blamed the person who cut the counter and said it was his fault. He did realign my dishwasher and made sure the counter was secure, but I was still in awe that they had originally left the job with these items outstanding. I did end up selling my condo and was so glad about that since I would have gone crazy staring at the poorly aligned counter and sloppy caulking job!
