Journeyman Carpentry

Dan Burt from Journeyman Carpentry really saved the day when our general contractor stopped working and stopped returning my calls. When I explained to him the predicament we were in, he made time in his schedule to complete the structural work we needed done so that the other tradespeople could do their work. He showed up early every morning and worked all day until the work was complete. He was competent, professional and went out of his way to make sure the work was done well, on time and to our liking. He took care of all communication with our engineer and city inspector. He also took the time to keep us informed as to his progress and any surprises he encountered. It was so nice to work with such a reliable, professional and helpful individual. We recommend Journeyman Carpentry highly and look forward to working with Dan again.

Daniel spent enough time with us, prior to preparing a contract in order to make sure we knew roughly what the job would cost. He committed to our tight timeline even while we reviewed and redrafted the initial contract, before it was signed.
We were consulted regularly throughout the process whenever there was a decision that required our input.
Every aspect of the job was done with great care and professionalism. The finished product has received exclamations of approval from everyone that has seen it.

Dan & his team managed a large renovation of an older home in a short amount of time. He was able to source products such as special order hardwood floors that were an exact match to the current ones, had spindles made to perfectly match the existing ones & worked with great suppliers. He made sure to the home was clean including the ductwork. He worked late to stay on schedule & took the time to ensure everything was done correctly.
Our home looks incredible & we have Journeyman to thank for that!

Daniel and Spencer both did a fantastic job bringing our railing up to code by adding extra spindles between the existing ones (which were too far apart and a safety hazard little kids). Daniel provided us with an honest and competitive quote and we decided to hire him based on his great expertise in carpentry. We got several quotes from other people, but they seemed less well versed in the trade and we were either a) concerned they would mess up our railing or b) they were much more expensive (for no apparent reason).

Though it took a while for Daniel to have time to come (guess he's in very high demand!), he got the job done on schedule and as promised - in a day (a very long one!). The guys did an absolutely fantastic job! The railing looks completely original (we can't tell the spindles he installed from the originals they put back in - which was the whole point) and is sturdy, attractive and safe. When Daniel has some more time available, we'll be having him come back to do more work (cabinetry/built-ins). He does an extremely professional, capable, thoughtful (has good style and design ideas) and meticulous job. While he's not the cheapest on the market (though his price is definitely very competitive), you really get what you pay for with him. Since quality of work was important to us, we felt our house was in very good hands with these guys.

I had Journeyman Carpentry replace the windows on my house over the last two summers. Not only were they very professional but I felt completely safe leaving them the keys while I was at work. Dan Burt was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend the company.
