Dan was quick and efficient. He came to assess our leak the same day when we had been put on hold almost two weeks with another company. He had siding workers there within a couple days and the area was repaired within days. We were on a timeline to sell our home and he really came through with solid work and professional above and beyond service. Very satisfied Thankyou!

Daniel was very knowledgeable. He took his time to explain every detail about the project to us in terms that we would understand. He showcased passion and interest in our project. He also gave criticism concerning our design and gave valuable insights from his past experiences of what worked and what doesn't. We met up a number of times to go through each part of the design until we were satisfied. As the bathroom renovation started, it was very obvious that Daniel was very meticulous and methodical on the way he worked and his approach to the project. His work area was fairly tidy/clean and he answered any questions we had about the project as it progressed. The end result was a bathroom that we really enjoy using. Overall, we won't hesitate to hire Daniel again for another project.

The job was completed in a courteous and professional manner. They adapt well to change in job conditions and completed the assignment on time. We really enjoyed working with them and will do so again on our next project.

Journeyman Carpentry came to deal with some major issues that had accumulated in our house. They were friendly and professional and returned our bathrooms and kitchen back to a functional state. Great work!

Journeyman Carpentry did a spectacular job redoing our closets for our daughters. They built gorgeous shelves as per a designers drawings, always cleaned up after working and did a quality job putting in bifold doors. Daniel was able to work around some idiosynchrasies of our house (uneven flooring, unusual size of closet entrance) and was able to make the final product look like it was original to the house. We will be having them over to do other work in the future. Not the cheapest, but you can count on high quality perfectionistic work done in a timely manner (they got the job done before the arrival of our baby!).

We had a few poorly hung doors that constantly jammed. Daniel and his team took them down to the studs and reframed/hung the new doors. They operate perfectly and look nice.

He also installed a new dome light and a new ceiling fan. He took the time to build up a mounting box in the attic so the fan doesn't swing/move.

Next he repaired damaged drywall.

They listened to all of my concerns, performed very thorough work and were professional to deal with (showed up on time, cleaned up when done, etc).

I'd gladly recommend them to my friends/neighbours (and in fact I have).

We were having wood floors installed in our home and needed to match the existing hardwood. This, much to my surprise was a challenge. Dan worked to try to find a colour match; unsuccessful at the pre-finished flooring. Dan then came to me with a solution of custom, pre-finished hardwood. The product is perfect. Great troubleshooting and problem solving.

Dan and his crew are courteous, efficient and hard working. Protected all finishes in the house, carpet, throw covers in travelled areas. I left Dan and his crew at the house during construction in my absence with no worries at all!

Work was excellent, service was great and a pleasant experience.

Journeyman Carpentry is the best carpentry contractor I've ever worked with (I've worked with quite a few), and they did a fantastic job replacing the roof on our house. Not just the work was superb, but the level of professionalism is impeccable -- clear communications, letting us know when he would arrive and when he wouldn't; on-time performance (even getting it done early); flexibility in both pricing and specifications with written change orders to make sure everyone understands what has changed, and what it will cost; a reliable and sober crew (which on our job included Dan's highly skilled father as a bonus); effective and creative problem-solving (no job goes entirely smoothly); nice folks too, fun to have around, and Dan even returns phone calls!

I’ve worked with quite a few contractors because my family and I have owned a number of houses, cottages, businesses, and apartment buildings, and over the years I've experienced many of the reliability and quality issues with the building trades noted in some of the reviews on this site. It took many years and a lot of aggravation (I could tell you stories) to find a crew I could rely on.

When I moved to Canada a few years ago, I left that crew behind and so decided to do most of my work myself, that is until we decided to replace the roof on our house. Initially we thought it would just be a shingle replacement, but after a more thorough inspection it was clear that we needed to replace the entire roof, rafters and all -- more than I could handle by myself. I started working with another contractor, ordered trusses (that contractor wouldn't do that) and then he put me off for the entire summer before telling me that he wouldn't be able to do it after all (at least he returned some of my calls).

I seriously reconsidered doing it myself, but then I stumbled across HomeStars and Dan's reviews. I gave him a call, we worked out a deal, and he and his crew did a really great job. As in so many of the other reviews, Dan 'saved the day', and my wife and I feel incredibly lucky to have found him. We actually look forward to working with him again in the future, something I couldn't even have said about the carpentry crew I worked with in the States for so many years.

Fall of 2014 I had extensive renovations done and the 3-season porch was part of it.
That contractor left without finishing the job. Just walked off and said keep what was left owing to him, no reasons given. Most of it I was able to finish myself, but the porch had two exterior doors that were completely butchered by the other contractor. After having 3 people come and look at it that were unwilling to try and fix the mess, Dan stepped up and took it on. He custom built two doorframes for the 'inside' solid doors, finished the doorsills (which again had to be creatively made due to what the first contractor left), installed the vinyl flooring and did many other custom fix and tweaks to make it a finished product and beautiful, secure room. I can't say enough great things about him. On time, on budget, neat, friendly, explained everything in detail. Understood exactly what I wanted and came through 110% when others had just walked away. Dedicated follow-up to be sure I was happy. Thank you SO much Dan, and I will not hesitate to call for my next project right from the start! You have revived my faith in contractors.
