Westside Pest Control Ltd

We've hired Westside Pest Control for the last two years to help us get rid of those little black ants that find their way into the kitchen about this time every year. Again, this year, we called and Jim came out today. Just like last year, Jim was professional, calm, respectful, knowledgeable and he did excellent work for us. I would recommend this company to stop the ants from coming in your house, and definitely ask for Jim when you call.

Two other pest control companies in the past decade have tried unsuccessfully to get rid of rodent infestations into our 1910 house, with very unsatisfactory results using primarily poison. The first company advised to use steel wool and plastic spray compound to close crevices indoors, and put out closed trays of poison. A couple of years later, a second company gave similar advice and used another poison. Both reassured us that the warfarin would cause the rodent bodies to dry up without any malordorous smell. The smell, which the first time led my husband to take apart an entire wall in our basement to the lathe strips without finding the rotting caracass, nearly drove us out of the house for the 4 or 5 weeks it took for the body to dessicate. We never did find the body, only flies. After that, we only used traps. During this unusually cold winter, we heard audible evidence of a nest in the wall and ceiling of our dining room. We were desperate to get rid of them, and called Westside on the strength of excellent reviews on Homestars and on Yelp, and the personal recommendation of a friend and neighbour who also lived in a 100 year old house.

I give kudos to Jeremy and especially to Brennan, who provided a service above and beyond the pale. The first visit was January 27, 2017. Jeremy identified several places of ingress in the foundation, closed them, installed a oneway exit door for the rodents living in the wall to escape and be caught in one of the three closed traps outside, and made a follow up visit in one week. The second visit occurred during the heavy snow fall, such that Westside could not go up a ladder and check the gutters and roof, but a rat was trapped, and two new holes were discovered at ground level. The third visit was delayed by snow, but a couple more holes were discovered. I kept on hearing activity in the wall and the ceiling, always in the same place. On the fourth visit, Brennan thought he had found the culprit - a hole in the corner of the aluminum fascia of the roof (which was installed 5 years ago). Sadly I continued to hear the scratching of a happy rodent family in the walls, and today Brennan said he might have to cut a hole in our ceiling to place a trap up there as a last resort. I was all in favour, but welcomed the sound of a drill outside where Brennan checked the roof perimeter on his ladder and found TWO little spaces in the fascia on either side of a bump out bedroom wall where the rodents were getting in. He installed another oneway door and closed up the holes with wire mesh. Thereafter I heard frenzied scratching and activity for an hour or so, but I am encouraged and hopeful that the next visit may actually be the LAST! These guys really stand by their guarantee that they will return until I am satisfied that they have rat-proofed my home and all activity has ceased, with no (decaying) body left behind. They are RAT BUSTERS. I am totally impressed and satisfied with their persistence, customer service, punctuality, and guarantee that they will keep coming back until the house is rat-proof. Brennan is the BEST - he never gave up. From the first telephone call to the followup emails and phone calls and prompt service, everyone was courteous, punctual, respectful and they really know their stuff. I endorse Westside Pest Control wholeheartedly. They are solid, dependable and trustworthy.

Adam did a wonderful job of cleaning out our crawl space, and getting rid of rats on our property. He sealed up entry points very effectively without detracting from the look of the house. We would highly recommend this company for similar work. Job extremely well done!

Our neighbourhood is full of rats, who had taken over our old garage in Vancouver. We will never get rid of rats in the city, but I don't want to let them live in my garage. In very tight areas the Westside team put in a defence of wire mesh underground where the rats had built a network of trails and nests. They also blocked off entry points in the building itself. They routinely check the bait boxes and report results to me. Each technician has been personable, and helpful. The staff in the office keep communications running smoothly. Mike, the owner, was highly recommended to me by Sunshine Coast Pest Control, and I have heard him on CBC…very knowledgeable. I am happy to recommend Westside Pest Control…they get the job done.

I hired Westside Pest Control to take care of a rat problem. They have been terrific. Adam was on time, helpful, knowledgeable and diligent. The office staff are efficient and pleasant. I would definitely recommend them.

After work had been done on our pipes throughout our building we encountered little visitors(mice) creeping into our townhouse. Late at night one would sneek out from under our fridge, then another, all very quick to disappear. I stuffed alll kinds of material around the fridge and then saw one sneak out from under the dishwasher.
Where did they come from, where did they go, could they climb stairs from our garage??? I called Westside Pest Control and found the lady on the phone to be so kind and helpful with knowledge about mice. We signed up for the routine 4 appointments. Justin arrived and very quickly zeroed in on the areas of entry. He was so professional and efficient. He covered up the openings with mesh, set down many traps throughout the house and garage. Justin was so pleasant and terrific and the mice have not returned. Thank you

Justin and Egor were prompt, professional and very efficient. They worked on a duplex to get rid of squirrels and were looking for the entry point, when they found it they worked very fast to get it sealed. Also while they were on the roof they cleared out the gutters! Can't recommend these enough. Hopefully none of my friends get pests, but if they do Westside will be the first call! Thank you.

I used another company previously. Their tech was very casual (forgot to close a bait box - we have a dog), and I didn't get the sense that he was really interested in solving the problem. And his manner was borderline rude - I dreaded the pest control appointments as much as having the pest! Egor and Jeremy are helping to make this whole experience better. They both seemed much more thorough in determining the problem and points of access, and infinitely more courteous and professional. They were both pleasant to have in the home, and I feel more assured that the problem will be dealt with. I can see why Westside has such high ratings.

I would like to make a recommendation and I hope that Justin is still with your company. I lost the business card that would get him a $25 gift card at subway, so I am hoping that this e-mail would be suffice.
Justin was very professional, friendly approachable.
He was on-time, informative, retrieved our old mouse traps, he was willing to do thorough assessment. He had the proper tools and safety gear; he was quick, not a lot of time wasted. We’ve used this company before (last winter/spring) for the mice which are now gone – thanks. And our neighbours/friends recommended your company as well.
So, if and when the mice return, or if we have any pest issues, I would definitely contact Westside Pest Control to do the job. AS WELL, I would recommend your company, and Justin to any friend and neighbour who need quick, professional service.

Egor was prompt, friendly and extremely efficient. The rain was pouring down in torrents, but he cheerfully ascended to the roof, examined the entry holes, covered all but one of them with sturdy wire grids, and installed the one-way exit-but-no-entry door to make sure no squirrel got left behind. Great system, no hidden extras, and superb service. Today he came back on schedule to remove the final door, spoke with us to ensure we hadn't heard any squirrels inside, and finished the job. We are very happy with him and Westside.
