Terrible Renovation and Design Experience
I wouldn't recommend Stratas for Design or Build. If you want cookie-cutter and don't care about the details of design then go ahead and take your chances that they'll finish the job. That wasn't our experience. We had to keep asking for a design concept - seemed to take much longer than it should. Once the work started there was nothing but issues with no project plan, bad measurements, and very little coordination with what we actually wanted to do. Pricing was questionable - I understand there is a "client invoice" and a "contractor invoice" but some of the pricing seemed really egregious. At one point post demolition Andy demanded more money for the same work and threatened to walk if we didn't sign a new contract. We took on the project ourselves and had to fix their mistakes. Overall, a very hostile, disorganized, and questionable experience. I would definitely not recommend if you want a quality interaction or renovation experience.

There are a number of inaccuracies in your review. The initial job was for just over 200k, not the 500K you have falsely indicated. The project was for a minor main floor renovation and basement bathroom refresh during Covid. From the onset of construction it was clear you had no intention of meeting your contractural obligations and you intended to hire subcontractors (many of which who we employ) to finish the project on your own. We provided detailed permit and engineered drawings, as well as a complete landscape plan. You and your husband asked for over 15 different kitchen revisions, and over 12 different window designs (to spec one window and one door). Once the innumerable revisions were completed you began hiring/paying for vendors and subcontractors outside of our contract. We brought this concern to your attention and within one day you had effectively removed us from the project and had other subcontractors on site. These subcontractors must have been engaged well in advance, as you had them working immediately. We received 4 out of 20 progress payments, which was commensurate to the progress of the job at that point. You then used all of our designs and had many of our subcontractors preform the work. Since then you have created numerous fake social media accounts impersonating me and my company spreading lies, misinformation and other defamatory behaviour. It strikes me odd that one would open themselves up to Libel and Slander and Harassment.
We will continue to do what we have done for almost 20 years, which is help hard working families achieve their home renovation dreams and supporting schools and charitable causes in the neighbourhood.
