Smart Pools On Ground Swimming Pools

Autumn 2014 Rob Moffat came promptly to look around our yard, gave us an estimate, answered our many questions (and we had lots), installed our pool (with Trevor) exactly as promised. Spring 2015, Rob came back to go over the steps to open the pool. Very responsive and helpful. Of all the projects around our house, having this pool installed was, by far, the smoothest, the simplest, and the least complicated. Thank you Rob and Trevor!

The crew was punctual, organized, tidy and very professional. They were straight forward and true to their word about how long the job would take and how they would do it. Because of the steel plates Rob used to cover the lawn and part of the driveway, the area was left fully intact and no damage at all when the bobcat dug the hole for the pool. The pool is 40' by 17'.
My family is very happy and enjoys the pool every day. The smart move is to use Smart Pools!

I am thoroughly delighted with the pool installed by Smart Pools in the fall of 2013. Rob Moffat, the company owner, is an excellent communicator and listener. Rob explained the entire process. He remained friendly and approachable, walking me through every stage of the installation. There were no surprises.
Rob does meticulous work. He made the site of construction safe for my comings and goings. All peripheral areas were kept safe and tidy in consideration for neighbors and pedestrians. I have complete confidence in Rob Moffat and his company.

Rob and his crew from Smart On-Ground Pools installed our pool in the summer of 2014. We havev a unique yard in that there was a large existing pond that presented some issues with respect to where to locate the pool for the best "hard bottom". Rob worked with us for several months leading up to the install to mark out the location, go over the challenges around the pond so we were fully informed, etc. What we love about Smart on Ground is that Rob (the owner) is right there every day working on the install, running the bobcat himself. It's not a large company that drops off a "crew" with no supervision. The owner is there on site, constantly, working with the crew, which ensures a great job - this is his company.....With his many years with Pioneer pools, he's an incredibly knowledgeable guy, and dropped in several times after the job was finished to address any of our concerns or explain the equipment. His wife Vicki took care of all our paperwork and dealing with the Oakville Town staff. and was alwways availble to answer any questions. The final product is amazing. We loved the pool for the few weeks we had it last summer. Our 2 weeks of "sta-cation" during the last two weeks of August were spent deckside with martinis and friends. It was fabulous. There's nothing like coming home from work in the summer and jumping into the pool. The salt system Rob uses is great - super easy to maintain the pool. So happy with our choice and can't wait for next summer.

We had our onground pool installed by Rob Moffat from Smart Pools in June of 2012. We were originally set on going with Pioneer, but after speaking to friends about their pool, they highly recommended Rob and Smart Pools to us because they had such great service from him. They met Rob while he was working for Pioneer (as a previous reviewer mentioned, he worked with them for 25+ years) and our friends said that it was working with him that made all the difference in their pool buying experience. Based on that, we decided to meet with him and were instantly impressed with his personal skills, professionalism and knowledge about his product and services. He also had really good and honest advice about what you need and what you do not.

Smart Pools was several thousand dollars less than their competitors (and we researched them all). They also offered more for the money we were paying. For instance, you get more choices in stairs and liners and other possibilities (we wanted a waterfall). It's all the little details that made a difference to us - such as: we were very concerned about damage to our lawn with the machines going back and forth. When we discussed this with competitor Pioneer, they just told us that they just consider the lawn "a path of destruction" (their actual words) and it's up to us to completely replace it after they're done. It would have cost us $1500 to do so (we have a long side lawn that leads to the back where the pool would be). It made their expensive pool that much more expensive. When we discussed this with Rob from Smart Pools he gave us the option of renting lawn-protecting metal plates and our grass had very minimal damage when it was all done.

Smart Pools was also very good about working around our schedule and installed our pool in a very reasonable time frame, while still making sure that it was done right and with care. Rob (the owner) was there for every step of the process as well, which was beyond our expectation. Just talking to him you know that he actually cares, and this is exactly what you want when you are making a big investment in something for your home.

Now, two years later, we are still enjoying our pool and very happy with the work - it still looks and feels brand new. There were only a couple minor hiccups - our pool heater (a well respected brand) malfunctioned during the first season, but that was due to a manufacturing flaw, and was replaced the day we called about it and was under the pool heater's warranty. Also, we had a pool light bulb blow out last year. In both cases, Rob stepped up to the plate and arranged the heater replacement and even came to replace our light bulb for free a year later. Plus, if we have any questions, he always answers our emails, even two years later.

We had a very good experience all around and would definitely recommend Smart Pools/Rob (and have been). Smart Pools also recently started offering pool openings/closings for their pool installation clients as well. We hired them for that a few weeks ago and had once again, another great experience. Trevor was so thorough and did such an excellent job. In the past we used a competitor and were not thrilled. We will be booking our pool closing with Smart Pools as well.

Found this company on the internet and made an appointment to meet with Robert. We found him very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. He gave us good advice regarding pool size, location of the pool and other accessory options like stair size. He was great in dealing with the City for the inspection and knowing about the by-laws for pool placement within our lot lines. He showed up when he told us he was going to show up and always answered all our emails or phone calls promptly. Our pool was installed before schedule, quickly and efficiently! We couldn't believe how fast Robert & Trevor were able to get everything done, and done well. The contractors he recommended for gas, and electrical work did the jobs well, at a decent price. We would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking to get a beautiful on ground pool installed. They did a fantastic job!

At the end of the summer we asked many of our friends about who they would recommend to install a pool. We wanted to install in the fall and have ready for next summer to open. Surprisingly the same name kept coming up.... Robert Moffat and Pioneer Pools.... We were doing some major landscaping and the owner over heard me talking about it and laughed and said the last 7 pools he personally had, Robert Moffat had the guy been putting in pools. He worked for 25 years plus with Pioneer Pools as a sub-contract. and for the past 3 or 4 was working on his own. I have to say Robert is extremely humble, easy going and very professional.. There was no pressure and sound advice. We wanted the biggest pool and he advised to go with a mid-size pool, we wanted lights and he said avoid lights in pool and avoid headaches.......and to not do any concrete or stone work until the the dirt had time to settle.....He works with another guy who were unbelievable to watch.... They installed the pool like pro's. They came back to clean the pool several times... , to make sure the pump was running well and give us Pool school...He is coming back in the spring/summer to re-educate us again and open the pool and I just know that he will do that without me even calling. HIGHLY recommend this company and this man!
