The Roof Whisperer

Being new to Toronto, I contacted The Roof Whisperer and other roofing companies to replace our shingles/eavestrough. The Roof Whisperer was prompt in providing a quote.

When we awarded them the job, their installation and customer service were second to none too. Our new roof and skylights took to the heavy storm very well and our eavestroughs and downsprouts are working properly.

I called The Roof Whisperer among a couple of companies on Homestars and they were the first to respond. They didn't want any money before they looked at my roof like another one did. My roof was damaged by raccoons and I worried about leaks and them possibly coming back to move in. Arthur came over the next day, investigated the roof damage and quoted a repair and roof tune-up work. Caulking needed replacing, nails had popped and 16 shingles were needed for repairs. The following day the repairs were expertly made with the matching shingles and my roof is intact again.

I needed my roof repaired as I had a leak after a major rainstorm. Iler came within the time that he said and gave me a thorough understanding of what the repair would entail. His team of 3 showed up on time and we're done well before I thought they would. Everything was cleaned up and the job looked great.

The house that we bought required two roofing jobs for which we hired The Roof Whisperer. First, there was wood-burning fireplace in the basement that we removed. We hired The Roof Whisperer to remove the metal pipe that ran through the roof and patch up the open section. Second, the bathroom had no ventilation besides the window. We installed a fan and hired The Roof Whisperer to install the necessary ventilation in the roof to which our HVAC contractor eventually attached the fan.

The Roof Whisper was prompt and completed the job quickly and thoroughly. We're happy.

I contacted six roofing companies for a quote to repair my leaking roof. All six companies came highly recommended from Homestars. Of the six, only three would deal with a third storey roof repair. Of these three, only The Roof Whisperer returned my call promptly without the need for a follow up call, and attended my home to inspect the third storey roof and provide a quote on the agreed upon day and time. (The other two companies, despite follow up calls and promises to call me back to arrange a visit and quote, never did.) The Roof Whisperer quickly provided me with a detailed quote and explained the work required. I was impressed with their professionalism and their interest in doing the job, so I hired them. They were available on the day that I asked them to be (Labour Day Monday!) and they performed the work efficiently and carefully. They showed me "before" pictures of my damaged roof shingles, along with "after" pictures of the flat roof they placed over my third floor dormer to make it waterproof. They cleaned up beautifully and then sent me a receipt that detailed all of the work they performed adn the materials they used, including links to the web sites for each product. There is nothing more I could have asked for. I will recommend The Roof Whisperer to friends and family, and will use them again in the future. They were superb!

If you could call a roof beautiful then this one is! this is the third time I have had to redo my roof and this time it will last a very long time. Arthur is very reliable and detailed in his work. Only quality material and workmanship is delivered to you. despite much rain early this summer Arthur and his team delivered, giving me peace of mind and enjoyment of my home. He had to coordinate with my plumber and he went out of his way to make it happen. his team is professional and courteous and they left the place cleaner then it ever was! I had a flat roof installed over an extension about 5 years ago. It has been leaking for some time. I got several quotes and although The Roof Whisperer was not the cheapest, I was impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. My job required coordinating a few trades and The Roof Whisperer arrived on time, on budget. The left the area extremely clean. I will recommend this company to anyone who needs this work and I look forward to working with them in the future. Thanks for a great job!!!

Once again, finding a contractor on Homestars proved to be an awesome choice.

I own two sides of a semi-detached in Toronto. One side has a flat roof, the other a pitched. The flat roof was in horrible shape, with the soffit fascia starting to break apart in two corners. There was no way my roof would have lasted more than another 6 months.

My first problem was actually finding a contractor that was willing to come into Toronto! So many would not even quote because they said the spacing between the houses wasn't enough for them. When I was able to find companies willing to come into Toronto, they wouldn't touch a flat roof. After asking around, I found out a flat roof is not something that DIY and 'side-job' guys will touch. You need to know what you are doing and the insurances required are very costly.

Then I found The Roof Whisperer. I was relieved when they did flat roofs and were willing to come into Toronto! Arthur met with me and did what some other contractors didn't bother doing, he actually went onto the roof! He took pictures of the areas of concern and showed them to me. He discussed the work that would need to be done. I was impressed by how he wasn't trying to 'sell' me on anything. We were just talking about the work. He even explained how my pitched roof was in great shape and didn't need anything done to it. I received a detailed quote by email that broke down the work required and also outlined all his companies insurances and certifications. I knew he was the man for the job.

The work schedule was agreed by both of us to be delayed because of some bad weather. The actual work was done while I was away on vacation, so I was a little nervous to see what I would come back to. I came home at night and even in the dark I could see the repaired soffit fascia corners which looked incredible. The next day I threw the ladder up and took a look at the work. All I can say is that these guys know exactly what they are doing. Everything looked so clean. Nothing sloppy at all. Very precise work. Even all the trim work around the chimney and vents. I can tell this wont require any warranty call backs.

During the work, some ceiling was accidentally damaged, a small little section of drywall. These things happen. Arthur was immediately on the phone with me explaining what happened and arranged to have someone repair it as soon as I found it convenient. I wasn't worried. These things happen! The small hole actually gave me a good look at the under side of the work done, I could see how much new wood was used on my roof! I was actually pleased that I had this opportunity to see this side of the work as I wasn't around to see the progression and how much old wood had to be removed. The ceiling repair guy came in as scheduled and did a fantastic job repairing that small section. No problems at all.

I got my detailed bill by email and I was very pleased to find out it was right on budget! I was amazed because I would have assumed some hefty extra charges when I saw how much wood had to be replaced. It was a cheque I was happy to write. It is worth the peace of mind to know I wont be dealing with water damage issues.

The Roof Whisperer is not the cheapest company out there. Arthur will tell you that himself. Maybe if you have a very simple shingle job to be done, he's not the right guy for you. But I wouldn't trust anyone else to do my roof again. I can see what that extra money pays for and I say it's worth it to have someone certified, insured and skilled in his trade. I want someone who knows exactly what they are doing when it comes to my roof and protecting it from water damage for a decade.

The best compliment anyone can give is a recommendation. I have already sent his contact info to a friend who needs his roof done in the next year.

Nick came to inspect my roof as it had been leaking. He came when he said he would and quickly discovered areas that needed repair, snapped pictures on his cell phone, and explained to me how he would fix them then quickly provided a quotation. Nick was professional, communicative and extremely helpful. Even though he was quite busy that day, when he saw the large hole in my roof and the weather forecast calling for rain, he made sure to work in a fix. As promised, he came back the next day and completed the job. I'd highly recommend Nick and The Roof Whisperer for roof repairs.

I was thoroughly impressed with the work that Arthur and his team did. He replaced some damaged eavestroughs and shingles on our house and the work was flawless...not to mention the quote was reasonable for the extent of the work.
