She positively welcomed our own ideas, to which she provided constructive feedback. We had an existing porch and large integrated planters and a few shurbs, trees and flowers that we were happy with. We hired Nicolette to develop a the planting layout and plant/shrub selection for the entire front yard where it was previously grass. We had some pretty specific ideas about what we wanted to keep and reuse in our existing front yard (ie. 3 birch trees and a few other shrubs and flowers that we liked). We also had a pretty good sense of the type of design we wanted, including use of various hard landscaping materials / stone etc but we're pretty clueless about choosing and positioning of the plants.
Nicolette incorporated our design ideas/desires into the plan options and made good use of existing plants and shrubs in the overall design while helping make it look very different from how it started! She demonstrated a strong knowledge of plants and shrubs and this was a key requirement for us in terms of selecting a landscape designer.
We're very happy with the finished result. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nicolette and would absolutely engage her again for any future landscape projects.
