I have never been so disappointed or treated so badly by a company. My 4 year old son broke his bedroom window during the coldest week of the year. I contacted Windows by Installer and set a time for someone to come out for a quote. Ronin was 4 hours late, and gave me a quote of $325 total but told me that it would be cheaper to do more than 1 window. I responded that we will be doing all the windows and doors, but in nicer weather, right now I need this 1 window replaced quickly as it is in a childs room and it is cold. I called the next day and spoke to the secretary to accept the quote and asked that when the man comes to install the window if he could give me a rough idea on the price to do the whole house. Ronin (the salesman) came back to the house, not to install like I asked but to sell. I agreed to do another window that was in sad shape in the kitchen. He gave me a quote of $360 per window plus tax. More than the original quote. Because I really needed my sons window replaced I said sure, fine and gave a deposit of $150, then I was told it would be a few days to get the windows from the manufacturer and up to a week to get someone here to install. I was supposed to get a call when the manufacturer was done (it took 5 days), but I had to call Windows by Installer. The secretary told me the earliest someone could get to me would be Feb 11, 4 weeks from the 2nd quote! I had already paid the deposit so I felt stuck. On Feb 10th I received a call from Windows by Installer rescheduling for the 12th between 9 and 10 am. On the 12th, at noon, 2 hours late I call Windows by Installer to ask if the guys are coming, the secretary was shocked that he wasn't and told me she would find out and call me back. 10 min later she called and said his truck broke down, he won't be coming today, no apologies, nothing. She asked to reschedule for Feb 14th. I asked is there anyway I can just get my deposit back and hire someone else as I have had nothing but problems from day one, she would not listen, talked over me, and when I started to get upset she said she would have Ronin call me to discuss a possible discount. I received no call. I decided to research Windows by Installer more closely, the ad says there are 3 employees, Alex, Mike and Steve. Was not able to speak to them. The postal code on this site for Windows by Installer is actually for the CN Tower????? I could not find a web page or ANY other information on Windows buy installer. I decided that I did not feel comfortable having them install anything in my house. I called this morning (feb13th) and asked the secretary to have someone call me about making arrangements for buying the windows or getting my deposit back and I tried to get answers about the postal code and Alex but she evaded any questions, spoke over top of me and rushed me off the phone. I received no call. I called back and the secretary said oh, I spoke to the manager and they said you can not cancel. I tried to tell her that my lawyer stated that I am well within my rights to not have them in my home and that I was willing to pay for the windows and have someone else install them but as soon as the word lawyer came out of my mouth she started screaming at me and then hung up. I called back and there was no answer (very professional) I left a message stating that If she had kept her mouth shut and listened to me for once (I know it was rude but by this point I was livid) to what saying I would buy the windows. A woman (sounding just like the secretary) called back and asked about getting $$. She told me the cost would be $499 plus tax. I told her that I would be happy to pay it as long as I got an invoice from the MANUFACTURER and all the warranty information. She said that she would have someone call me back......I am still waiting. I guess I can Kiss that deposit goodbye. All of the reviews on this site for Windows by Installer are positive, for Alex, Steve and Mike but I was unable to get any answers regarding them or anything else regarding this company.
