We found Paul Kusciniski from presidential flooring on kijiji. Came in to do an estimate. Was initially very professional and even got us to see a site he was working on. When we hired him, he asked for a deposit and trusted him to start work on our house . We should have taken the unanswered phone calls as a sign. He started about 1 hour of work on our house and said he had to finish another guys place. So after one hour of work, he left and promised to return noon the next day. Day 2, he called that he won't make it till 2pm. Again we were quite reasonable and didn't really make a big deal out of it. He asked for payment for stairs purchased and as soon as we paid him, Him and his partner left and never came back (was very vague regarding timelines and when work was going to be started). We tried to call them to ask what the plan was and when they will actually start work and never answered our phone or text until the next day. At this point, we did not want to deal with a very unreliable contractor. He promised half of the deposit back and came to our house, took his tools and made excuses that he left his wallet at a site (this was not what he said when he called us on the phone -- he said he was at home depot waiting and had the money with him). All in all, our experience with this contractor was very disappointing. We should have taken his excuses and delays to start work as red flags to NOT hiring him. Real professionals start work right away and not make excuses to start work.
