A Year of HVAC Nightmares and Zero Solutions

**Review of FURNACE Room**

Avoid FURNACE Room at all costs! For over a year, we've dealt with a nightmare of faulty HVAC equipment and incompetent service. Despite multiple visits, the unit continues to make unbearable noise, disrupting our neighborhood. Their technicians "fixes" were worthless, and now the unit has completely stopped working. We've spent over $10,000, only to face endless frustration and harassment. This company is a disgracezero accountability, zero results. We are left with no choice but to consider legal action. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for reliable service.

AC/Furnace installation

My Air Conditioner had stopped working on a Friday during the hot long weekend. It was on its last legs as it was an original 25 year old unit along with original furnace.

I reached out to Jay and his team and were able to come on extremely short notice. They provided multiple options and spent the time to over everything in detail. Jay and installation tech Kevin had provided exceptional services and went above and beyond.

The team was able to complete the installation the next day. They took the time to go over what was completed and cleaned up after the installation was finalized.

I would highly recommend their services

Exceptional service

Just over a year ago I was shopping for a new furnace and air conditioner and got 5 different quotations. Mike Li of Home Depot (The Furnace Room) was recommended to me through a friend. The quality of the Trane equipment and the fact that Mike seemed very conscientious, thorough, and competitive in his quote made me choose them. The work was completed as specified and ahead of schedule.

The furnace worked flawlessly until just a few days after one year of ownership. My relatively expensive "top-of-the-line" furnace had quit and you can imagine my disappointment. I called Mike and he made a complimentary visit and had his team replace the faulty Trane part. I hope this is simply a "bug" to be worked out of the new Trane S9V2 furnace.

In any case, Mike went above and beyond what was contractually required of them and they clearly exceeded my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend The Furnace Room to anyone looking for a new furnace and/or air conditioner.

air handler

My air handler stopped working recently and I initially called a couple of other companies. However they both told me to replace the entire unit which would be too impractical for me. I then called the Furnace Room with my concerns and was very satisfied with the technician's professionalism an problem solving skills. They were on time, organized , and efficient, and most importantly understood my concerns and provided me with the kind of service I needed at a reasonable price. Highly recommend this company.

3 years in and still having problems

Salesman was great but that's where it ended. Sub-contracted installers dropped furnace coming down our concrete stairs and whole furnace had to be replaced for starters. We had to stop payment on a cheque to ensure they replaced the furnace and didn't just try to fix it. No confidence in the company at that point so did not call them back to fix any deficiencies. Sloppy workmanship where new furnace was connected to old ductwork had to be redone by different HVAC technician. Humidifier never worked from the get-go and we just thought that was probably typical of humidifiers but we found out from serviceman from different company that humidifier was not properly installed in the first place - wrong size filter, etc. We have had no problems with the AC (touch wood.) Things are working fine now but we had to have service from company other than Furnace Room in order to get to this point. Would not recommend.

A/C furnace

Terrible customer service! I would never go with this company again nor will I recommended them to anyone. They are quick to sell, but when our A.C. Broke. Our contractor came, inspected it and said it was working fine. At this time, we were still under warranty. It happened again a week or so later. The same service man came back and tells us we needed to replace a part which would cost us extra labour money. We said we were still under warranty, but he claimed it already passed because the "possible" issue was diagnosed after the warranty ended. Under warranty, they say everything is "fine", but after the warranty, comes the list of things that need replacement and labour is extra.

A/C follow up service

We had the air conditioning installed in April (when 3 deg C outside).
The installers (did an excellent work btw), mentioned to me before they left that they charged the unit with an approximate quantity of refrigerant, as the proper pressure and function could not be confirmed at 3 deg outside temperature, and I have to call the office to set up an appointment to have the pressure and efficiency checked when it is hot outside. It's now August and the office (Christine) would schedule appointments with 3 weeks delays which won't be kept - blaming the service department as a separate entity on the basis that the unit "works". Period. Paid more than $4000 for a top efficiency unit only to just cool... which it does, but with an efficiency of a low end unit . It takes 2.3 hrs+ to cool by one degree.
I recommend if you hire them, do it through Home Depot so there will be someone to chase their behinds for warranty and follow up service.

Continued Service After Installation

I must admit at first I liked this company when they came to install both my furnace and air conditioner in July 2014. The salesman was polite and the installers were friendly, clean and knowledgable. However that's were the GOOD SERVICE ENDS!
The first problem with my HVAC occurred winter 2015-16. The heating system failed to blow hot air throughout the house. I called for service and someone came out the next day (thus no heat overnight). Though the problem was fixed, I found the service person very rude. I wanted him to stay an extra 5-10 mins to make sure the heating was effectively warming the house. He refused to which was fine, but the way which he refused was unsettling. He told me I was trying to keep him "hostage!". I advised him that was not the case, and that I just wanted to make the house heated up as I didn't want to have to wait a day or two for service (as he said I would have to) if heat failed

The second incident occurred when a furnace fresher sold at Canadian Tire got sucked into the HVAC. The same serviceman came out (better mannered this time). Fixed the motor but advised I get a new blower motor installed. I told him that would be fine. He advised he would order it on the Monday (as he came on Saturday). It's been over a month of waiting. I have left messages. Talked to "customer service". And have even sent an email regarding the issue (and a payment issue which has been resolved). Customer service declare a motor would be rest by the end of the week for installation, however no call back or email back was made to me. Finally, after reaching the company today (Friday) , I've been assured service will take place next Tuesday evening. I hope this happens, but I strongly feel I should not have to chase after a company for more than a month.
My advice is to do your homework, which I did not. I went by reference of a good installation price. However, a sale is a sale but it's the continued service that is important. This is just plain LOUSY service!
I hope the company looks at these reviews and change their ways.

Air Conditioner

We called to have our air conditioner serviced, broke down for the second time since we bought it in May of 2012. Christine is very unhelpful. Be careful once you purchase, poor service.
