Installing home security system and monthly service

When we moved into our new hose, we contacted AlarmForce to install our security system. The technician arrived on time and walked us through the installation of the system. He explained all the parts, the maintenance required and how to properly setup our passwords. He was very courteous and professional.

Our system has been running for a few months now, and the only negative I have noticed is the short lifespan of the batteries. The battery of the main unit is proprietary and has to be purchased from AlarmForce - it is a bit pricey.

Security Alarm System

Overall I like the system. The installer was good and asked where I wanted the different parts. The only thing I do not like is the cost of the batteries (it seems high) and they do not last very long. Update Sept 2014 Company sent letter stating they require $160 deposit in case there are false alarms. They will not pay interest on the deposit, nor are they charged in advance for false alarms from the police. Therefore now for same price they will not dispatch the police. Takes away any benefit of the alarm system. Will be cancelling. Unfortunate since I was about to add the video relay to my account.

ALARM INSTALLATION

WE DECIDED WE NEEDED A NEW ALARM SYSTEM IN THE HOUSE AND WE TRIED ALARM FORCE. SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD ON THE PHONE AND WAS ABLE TO BOOK A CONVENIENT TIME TO HAVE THE INSTALLATION

Alarm Force

Absolute awful customer service. They told us when they installed it that they could move the system when we moved out of our apartment. We bought a house ten miles away and they told us it was too far for the tech. to drive to move the system.

Then they told us they needed proof we bought a house before they would shut off our service without charging us.

Oh, and it was 50 dollars to have a tech come out and uninstall the system that they put in! So I am supposed to figure out how to get this crap off the wall now.

Pick a company with customer service skills and integrity. It is worth few extra dollars a month to have the support of a decent system.

Home Alarm system

I've used alarm force now for 3 years, since I owned my home. I am so pleased with the service. I'm a single mom and the amout of $28.50 per month is super affordable for me. I will continue to use them and I'm happy that they are around.
The technician that did the set up was good too. I also like that if I need to call customer service they are always nice and helpful.
It is nice to be able to write a positive review for a change....

Installation of Home Alarm System

When my husband and I moved into our home, we wanted an alarm system installed. We remember seeing advertisements for Alarm force, and easily remembered their catchy phone number tune. We decided to call and book a consultation. The phone conversation with the agent went smoothly, and they seemed confident with what they were advising us. We had a lot of extra features added beyond the basic package. We had a technician come to our house a few days later and installed everything and explained everything thoroughly. When he left, I felt confident with what we paid for. Ever since we've had the alarm, we have had minimum problems, and there has never been issues when we've needed someone to come repairs something. Our water bug sensor has gone off a few times and it has saved our basement. Overall, we are happy that we chose Alarm force and would recommend it. There are a few minor issues that are somewhat an annoyance, but do not exceed our happiness with the company; including false alarms and not being able to get a technician to the house earlier than over a week when faced with an issue.

Home Alarm system

We have installed the alarm system 2 years ago. The best thing about their service is the 2 way communications. It is not just the alarm is set off but they actually communicate with the intruder before sending the police.

Security Sytem

From the moment the call was made to the sales rep to the install they ensured that the job was done right. We were very happy with their GSM system as well as the door contacts installed in the basement and main floor.

Alarm installation and monitoring

What do I say about this company? After being a loyal customer for over 3 years we found out that our alarm system could be de-activated by anyone easily and when we brought this up to the company they told us that they were aware of the situation and would upgrade us for free to another system. When I asked why they did not tell us about the issue before, they said that only because we knew of the issue now did it matter. I cancelled immediately only to be told I would have to pay out the remainder of my contract. NOT GOOD BUSINESS!!!

Terrible and fraudulent service upon Cancellation

Let me start by saying that I had nothing but professional service from the beginning. That is, until I had to cancel my service.

I recently called to cancel my service. I received a timely response stating that AF would send a UPS waybill and that I was to return all equipment in the same package, affix their UPS label, and arrange for pickup. I did. As one other commenter suggested, I WISH I had taken a picture. I specifically remember wrapping the cord around the main unit and shoving the motion sensor and door detectors to the immediate side the main unit. I tracked the package online and saw that it had been delivered. I printed a copy of the delivery slip with POS.

A few weeks later, I get an email that I did not return all equipment and that I was to immediately pay $224.87. I placed a follow-up phone call and the CSR seemed pleasant enough. She said she would look into the situation for me. I sent a follow up email to confirm my telephone conversation. In my email, I included a copy of the UPS proof of delivery. That proof showed that my package weighed at least 5 lbs. There is no way that one motion sensor and a couple of door sensors weigh 5 lbs. I know that main unit was included in my package.

The following week I get a FINAL NOTICE in the mail requesting immediate payment. I placed another call and was placed on hold while the CSR reviewed my file. I was placed on hold for so long that eventually another CSR picked up the line. I had to explain my entire situation yet again. The CSR rep put me on hold (again) and eventually came back with an offer for me to pay for half the $224.87. I protested and stated that I was not paying for equipment that I returned! I said had this been an accurate charge, I would pay without question, but I KNOW I returned the the equipment. Honestly, what would be reason for me keeping the cumbersome unit that is rendered useless without the monthly service?

I demanded to speak to the manager and was told that I couldn’t. I remained firm and was then told that the manager was in a meeting. I asked to leave a message. I was told that she couldn’t guarantee a timely response to my message. I remained adamant and demanded to speak to whomever had authorized the half payment.

I was told the manager in charge was Avril and I was finally put through her voice mail, but the call was somehow dropped. I called again, spoke to a CSR rep, and immediately requested Avril’s voice mail. He put me through and I left a message. I’m waiting to hear back.

It's completely unfair that I have to pay for something I know I returned. I was told that if I didn't repay, my account would be sent to collections, which would ruin my completely perfect credit status.

**UPDATE** SATISFACTION RATING CHANGED DUE TO SETTLEMENT OF ISSUE
I received a call from Avril the day after my original posting and after another lengthy explanation regarding the return of the equipment, she agreed to drop the equipment charge because of my good customer rating with them.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Take a picture of all your equipment before you seal your return package. Keep copies of your cancellation letter and UPS waybills.
