Moving services

We are very happy with the service. Thanks to Brock the manager for all his help in meeting a happy resolution for both of us. Tuana in the office was great to deal with. We would recommend their service to anyone.

Moving services

We are totally dissatisfied with the service we received from Greenland Vanlines. Arrangements were made through the office in Scarborough with Tuana. I found her to be very helpful and honest. As the story unfolds the company I cannot say the same about. Our items were picked up on May 24th, 2012 and promised to be delivered the first week of June with notice given for delivery. Our shipment was almost 13,000/lbs and a hefty bill for such a terrible service. They also overcharged the contract for fees which were never mentioned on booking and pick up. Eventually that was resolved and the money was refunded back to the credit card. I spoke to many people at this company. Even the manager Brock makes promises that he cannot fulfill. It is pretty bad when a manager says he gives you his word that he will follow up with you and don’t have the courage to call you. We were in Alberta in an empty home with only an air mattress and a 4 year old child. On May 31st, we received a call that we would receive our items between June 2-4th and they would let us know a few hours prior to coming to our home. We waited home all weekend to await the movers with a no show and no call. On June 4th mid afternoon I called the moving company in Toronto to get an idea of what time they would be there that day since the day was almost over. They explained to me that due to the rail strike they are delayed and reassured me that we would receive our items on June 7th and they would call me on the 6th to give me a better idea of time that they would be there on June 7th. On the 6th I called the moving company again since no one had called us to see what time they would be there the next day. They once again told me that we would not be getting our items on the 7th and that we would get them on the week June 9th or 10th. I was promised that they would call us with a time on the 8th so we wouldn’t have to wait home all day for the movers. Late afternoon on the 8th I had to call them again since no one had called us. YOU GUESSED IT! WE WILL NOT BE GETTING OUR ITEMS ON THE WEEKEND AS PROMISED! The lady in the office (Samantha?) had the nerve to act like she didn’t care and she just wanted to go home since her shift was about the finish and she ended the call saying she would get someone to call me back which never happened. On June 13th we received a call in the AM stating it was the driver from Greenland and they would be delivering our items noon. They didn’t show up until 4pm in the middle of a rain storm. Showed up with no protection for our floors and the carpets were filthy when they finished. They had hired a crew in Edmonton to help them deliver the items. The crew was very sorry for what they saw when they opened the container. Items had been shifted around to get to the walk boards prior to coming to our home. Boxes when pushed in and holes in them, our son’s mattress had a hole and the cover had grease all over it. A statue was broken in pieces. A bike had twisted handle bars and the paddle was bent. The grandfather clock had the leg broke off. Multiple items had scratches. The items that we packed ourselves (wooden furniture) arrived with no damage. I am glad my husband took the time to carefully wrap almost all our furniture. We placed a claim for some of the items not all because they do not allow you enough time to go through all your items to find the damage. With such a large shipment a few extra days would have been helpful. Anyway, we continued to proceed with the claim and it was submitted to Melissa in the claims department. Well needless to say trying to get in contact with Melissa is not happening. She did not return my emails or phone calls regarding the claim. She sent us an email telling us that for all the damage they would give us back $150.00. This was an insult. Since she refused to speak to us, she left us no alternative but to accept something we were not happy with. Although she received this she continued to ignore it. Overall terrible experience and would recommend. BEWARE!
