Buliding a reputation of inferiority
I had my fence installed by Bytown back in 2011 and for the first couple of years, it was fine. Then we had a bad winter and many of the posts heaved up, happens almost every spring now. I called in reporting the posts for my two gates because the latches were no longer aligned and I couldn’t open my two gates. I have contacted them countless times over the past few years and as mentioned by others, it is very difficult to get after warranty service in a timely manner. It doesn't matter when you call, early spring, they will tell you that the ground is still frozen. Call in June and they may send someone in the fall or not at all. Or they say that they are really busy and need to hire more people.
Last fall, I called in again (one gate was OK and the other wasn’t completely off) and I was told that they would schedule me in. No one came last fall. Early May, I called twice and I kept getting told that someone would call me back. Here we are in July now and I still wasn’t able to open my gate so I ended up prying the latch bar with a screwdriver to get it open. As you can see in the pics, the latch has been moved many times already. I will let you imagine what the rest of the fence looks like. Luckily the latch will cover up most of the holes and I use beige caulking to fill the ones I can see. I think I have adjusted the latches myself twice now on this gate. I also keep their sign up in the hopes that someone will see how bad their fence looks now and not call them. The title of this review is the opposite of what is on their sign.
