JMT Roofing and Gutters Inc.

My house is 25 years old with a cedar roof that urgently needs to be replaced, so I did my research online for the best roofing companies in lower mainland. I noticed JMT Roofing has consistently received very good reviews and ranking on various different websites (Home Star, BBB, and few other websites), so I called JMT and scheduled for a free estimate. John replied my call immediately and was able to come to my house on the same day. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with my questions and concerns.

He also drove me around the neighbourhood, showed me some of his work, and explained in great details. When we stopped infront of a house which his company replaced the roof and gutters for, the owners (a middle-aged Chinese couple) saw us and came out to chat with us. Their thumbs were up and they told me good things about John, and recommended John immediately. The husband even invited me to visit the back of his house, so I could have a complete view of the work that JMT did for them. After the visit, I was very convinced of John's professionalism and craftsmanship.

When we returned to our house to do the actual estimate, the estimate that John provided was very, very, reasonable. I truly felt that John isn't a typical businessman whose #1 priority is to earn money, indeed, he puts his customers' needs before his own, and always tries his best to come up with solutions that achieve a win-win situation. A few days after we did the free estimate, it was a rainy and windy night, John even called and asked about the cedar roof's situation (he was worried that my roof might be severely damaged/leaking). John's caring and helpful personality really touched me and built my confidence in the company. I decided to go with JMT roofing and am delighted that I made the decision.

I always believe that a company's culture is strongly influenced by its owner, and it turned out that I was right. John's crew was very courteous, professional, and efficient. They finished the cedar roof conversion in 3 days (less than the original estimate of 4 days). After each work day, the site is clean and tidy (i.e. tools/equipments were put away properly, so no one would get hurt while walking around, etc) and ready for next day's work. John also provided regular updates about the progress to ease my concerns. The roof looks very nice and I am very happy with the results. Indeed, John has made my dream come true - to be able to provide a better living environment for my family at a reasonable cost in this expensive city.

I am very happy with the roof work that JMT has performed, and do look forward to the gutters-replacement and paint job, which they will also perform for me in mid March and summer 2014.

JMT is definitely a company with a socially-responsible attitude, high ethical standards, great professionalism and craftsmanship. I highly recommend people to hire John and JMT for their roof replacement projects.

Update as of March 17, 2014 - Gutters Replacement:

When John came to do a free estimate for my roof, he also provided a really good estimate and information on the gutters. He suggested me to use black, seamless gutters, since black color gutters do not get dirty as easy as white gutters do, and the seamless design greatly reduces the probability that the gutters will leak in future. At first, I was a little bit hesitate with the idea of using black gutters, but my concern disappeared after I visited the Chinese couple's house (which JMT also nstalled black gutters for). He also provided his professional advise and suggested me to install funnels and leaf guard boxes for the gutters, in order to prevent the underground drainage system from clogging (which will lead to a loss that might be as high as $20,000+). After looking at the work that JMT has performed for the other client, I decided to hire JMT to replace my gutters.

JMT's gutters crew team performed just as professional as the roof team, the gutters team finished my gutters in 1.5 days. On the first day when they came, it was raining very hard mid-way when they were doing their job (the crew was all soaking wet), so they had to come to my house another day when the weather was nice. John also contacted me on the first night, and promised me that the remaining work will be completed next time when the crew comes. When the crew came to finish the remainig work, the black gutters look great and matches well with my new roof. All the joints are well connected with good alignment. JMT measured our house's size and cut the gutters immediately on site to ensure accuracy and perfect fitting. I couldn't find any error with the gutters (i.e. all sides of gutters were fitting perfectly/tightly).

A few days after they finished their work, it was raining again, so my new gutters are finally put into use. I walked out of the house to examine the gutters, and I don't see any leaking at all. I was very happy that night because it means I no longer need to worry about leaking/water damage to my house, or disturbing my neighbours with the leaking sound. I highly recommend people to hire JMT for their gutters replacement.

In conclusion - I think JMT is the best company to hire for roof/gutters replacement.
