Interlock Patio, Demo and Regrade Backyard
My backyard had severe drainage issues that needed to be addressed. Given the cost to correct the problem, I expected nothing but the best work having selected Lloyd's Landscaping after interviewing multiple landscapers. In the beginning, all was good - proper scope of work provided, reviewed plan together and seemed like a good fit. After the work started however, suddenly things changed.
The workers were less than professional - young kids, smoking on the job, throwing their lunch waste, coffee cups etc. in the drainage pit, going shirtless. I didn't expect this given the professional image Paul Lloyd portrayed initially. Paul showed up to the job site very infrequently. After the mulch was laid we found numerous foreign objects including a bent up spoon, razor blade, rubber among other garbage - we told the workers and they said it couldn't have been in the batch. The interlock patio is where it really fell apart. The first time it was laid, I sprayed water on it to see if it was sloped correctly (away from the house) - of course, my worse fear was realized - it was sloping toward the house. I called the company and they sent another set of workers to correct the problem several days later. These workers again failed to correct the problem - I sprayed water on it and it pooled in the center of the patio. I called Paul Lloyd again to advise of the problem - several calls later he came out and advised it was due to settling from foundation work I did the year before. He said he would have it fixed one more time only but after that I would be on my own. Really? So much for the 1 year warranty. This is absolutely ludicrous since it was a matter of days since the patio was laid, not months or years. They then sent out another set of workers who sloped it correctly, still w/ several improper cuts on the curved section of the patio. I thought that nightmare was over, only to move to another house where the former homeowner hired Lloyd's Landscaping to do the same type of work. Again, we discovered the patio is sloped toward the house and water is pouring into the basement after the winter snow thaw. We call Lloyd's for over 1 month to try to explain the situation to no avail, the secretary eventually became annoyed and tells us to go find another landscaper to fix the problem since we're not happy.
Needless to say, I would not hire this company to fix my kids sandbox. I have since called multiple landscapers and shown them Lloyd's work all of which say it's a notorious problem with them that they end up having to fix - STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!
