Hardwood Giant

Horrible company with deceptive business practices. Avoid at all cost. They ruined my holidays this year. We have two sets of curved stairs, a second level den and an upstairs hallway. I was promised in writing that they will do the installation in early November. Because of a series of mistakes on their part and an unreliable installer from Toronto that didnt show up when he said he would, we are now almost a week before Christmas with an unsafe room without a railing, damaged drywall, steps with removed carpet and staples sticking out. Despite me making it clear that the installation was not supposed to start until the stair installer was here, they pushed me to start the upstairs room anyways with a local installer because the Toronto installer was on his way. Toronto guy showed up 3 days later and discovered that he didnt have the right materials ordered, said he will return this week but at this point I do not believe him. I then asked management to refund me the cost of installation that I had prepaid but they denied me because of their policies. Getting ready to file a credit card charge dispute. The local installer who did the floor in the upstairs room was ok, but he didnt know how to install the stair nosing and was not told in advance of the scope of the project. Avoid this company especially if you have stairs.

We bought hardwood flooring for the upstairs bedrooms of our townhouse and replaced the old carpeting. Our experience with Hardwood Giant in Calgary was amazing . The showroom sales person was friendly and so helpful , he was knowlegeable and helped answer all of our questions. From begining to end the experience was wonderful. The installation was fast and efficient. Kalan and his crew were, polite , and so professional . We are very pleased with the finished product and would not hesitate recommend Hardwood Giant , you will not be disappointed!!

We purchased waterproof vinyl planks in the color Warm, price point $3.5 at the Brampton location. During instalation in the kitchen, the planks keep popping up forcing the contractor to try to re-do the rows few times. Not only that the planks did not stay interlocked, meaning super low quality and not as advertised, but also managed to get srached as well on multiple spots. The vinyl could not seem to sustain what is suppose to be simple instalation, non the less suggested use of a lifetime. We were forced to throw these out, and get waterproof laminate at a new cost of $500, same company. When I called customer service, initially I was promised a refund for the vinyl which cost $250, but when I actually get to talk to the right person to express my issue, I was rudely interrupted, insulted and got hang up on. Of course no resolution and no refund. This is what you get for spending lots of money at a company that gives a squad for customer satisfaction and does not stand behind the promised quality of their product. I am telling anyone I know and don't, not to buy from this unbelievably unprofessional company.

Our experience with Hardwood Giant's Toronto location has been disappointing. Despite paying the full price for labor and materials, the squeaky stairs were not properly repaired. They did not deliver satisfactory results. Furthermore, their employee demonstrated unprofessional behaviour by hanging up the phone on my husband, and their overall work quality is substandard. It seems they are indifferent to customer complaints once the work is completed.

High prices, padded invoices, crooked quotes, simply put they cannot be trusted, they have absolutely no honor and you deal with them at great peril to yourself, your finances and your project so look else ware or be sorry later.

High prices, returns are impossible, rude staff and owner. Will never buy from them again.

We hired Hardwood Giant to install hardwood floors throughout our home in the summer of 2021. Everything was great at first. We loved the service, the work was good and the staff were great. Things took longer than expected, but being in the middle of covid that was not overly shocking.

Near the end of the project, we started to notice work quality decrease. We had paid to have the stairs to our basement changed, and they forgot about them. They came back and did the work, so no harm done. With the Job complete I left a review - that review was a 5-star review despite some small problems we had. We weren't happy with the trim work, but this isn't their main business so we didn't want to detract from the flooring work they did - but we did feel it was important to be truthful in our review so I included some criticism of it in my review. We even had their lawn sign on our lawn for months because we appreciated the work done.

Yesterday I reached out to Brian because we noticed a couple issues - our handrail on our second floor is out-of-level, and our basement stairs are fading after less than a year. His response was shocking:

" After your online review I refuse to discuss anything further with you.

You can contact my lawyer at Mills and Mills. "

Following that I changed my review to 1-star, and I tried to reason with him, but this was the response:

"Stop harrassing me and posting online. You even said in your previous online attack, you had to redo my work it was so horrible. That means you were the last to touch it. All of this is now a result of your own workmanship. I will have my lawyer contact you about this harrasment and defamation. "

I'm just in absolute shock. I did not ever suggest that we did any work on it, I did not "attack" anyone - I just shared an honest opinion. And now as a result I have spent tens of thousands of dollars on floors that the seller and installer refuse to support. I can't in good faith tell anyone to do business with this company anymore, and I'm deeply sorry if anyone read my previous review and decided to do business with them and got similarly burned.
