We completely renovated our home, the last to be done "crowning jewel", (our three floor winding open stairway and office. Unfortunately, our choice to use Magic Touch Flooring was our one mistake...everyone makes one! We had many quotes from various qualified installers. When Mike (owner) came for a quote, he provided quality contemporary carpet selections and told us upgraded underpadding was a standard. His quote did come in a little less than the other companies, and he was very confident in the workmanship he and his crew would provide. Installation day, Mike and his crew were professional, polite and worked with attention to detail, I thought. They told me this should have been a two day job, and worked very hard and were very proud to leave that day completed. Over the next couple days we started noticing "flaws" as all probably do. Firstly, our office overlooks the family room, there are exactly 21 slices, inline with the spindles 3" long, 8" away from the spindles (about a foot into the room, away from the railing). We thought the carpet had a defect, but believe when they had pulled back to cut, to get around the spindle, the knife cut thru to the already laid carpet. Secondly, our large office desk was snapped when they moved it. We told them to wait so my husband could assist, but they thought they had it. The keyboard holder was completely broken off and the brackets which hold the desk together were stripped out. Mike did offer to reimburse. Thirdly, they needed a place to cut the carpet into strips for the stairs, they cut the carpet in our basement (on top of our vinyl floor) the vinyl had 2 & 3 foot slices all over it. Fourthly, on our stairs, where the stair itself meet the other stair there are these same slices. Initially when we negotiated price we asked Mike if cash would be any less, he insisted no because he needed to receipt us properly for the job, needless to say, that evening they left he did not have a receipt book on him and told us he would get us one...we are still waiting. We never received our "Carpet Warrantee" which we were told we would receive. Mike has come back to see all the error (I actually feel bad for him), but this job was done too quickly, with a lot of error. Mike has said he would cut a "piece" 1 ft x 8 ft carpet to "patch in", which I am concerned over the years will stick out like a sore thumb. If it were your home and you paid for a completed, almost flawless job, wouldn't you want that? This article will be revised "if" Mike returns and completes the job properly. If it stays the same, it was not resolved. John & Victoria Hill
