I previously had this company do a job on the previous house where I lived and was very happy with the work and the service. However, when I had them quote on the job for a house we moved into recently, the salesperson did not fully communicate, in my opinion. To be fair, his opinion is different. The problem came with the replacement of the fascia. I had discussed this as part of the job, since we were moving from brown eavestrough and fascia to white. When he quoted the job he indicated the change of eavestrough. I assumed this included changing everything to white. When I arrive home after the job was done, I was somewhat surprised to see white eavestrough on brown fascia. We had a conversation and the salesman was not very helpful in resolving the situation, placing the entire blame for the issue on me. I was willing to take some of the blame but not all of it. I was also willing to pay a fair price to rectify the situation. They would only come back and do the job for an additional $1000. I found another company who did the job for $600.
Also, Cancro did not complete the proper number of downspouts according to the contract. They would only refund me $50 for the incomplete work and I know if I had to pay someone to add a downspout that I would likely be charged more than $50. Company attitude was very poor on this one and they lost my business for a complete siding changeover. The eavestrough has not really worked properly since installation as there are low points that collect water. I will likely have to have the whole job redone in a few years and I know which company will not be involved. The guys who did the fascia work will be at the top of my list as they were polite, reasonable in terms of price and quite knowledgable. They were able to point out a number of issues with Cancro's work including the disbelief that anyone would complete a project that left brown fascia under the new white eavestrough.

- Check this database for the kinds of references that contractors don't readily provide. It's easy to provide a positive reference but how willing are they to share their mistakes and talk about how they have worked with the client to correct any "challenges". This to me is the mark of a really good company... they will acknowledge the problems they run into and then share their methodology for resolving issues. I have worked with some really good companies who have worked in this way and I do not hesitate to recommend them. I will make other entries in this database about the positive vendors I have worked with.
