Here's our story..

After looking for a reputable landscaping company for a few weeks (many who never bothered to call back), I was in touch with Carlo.

Within a few days, Carlo came to our house to discuss the job further, look at the area and offer some suggestions. The grass in our backyard was damaged in many spots due to a really difficult summer (and neglect). We also had ongoing issues with water drainage from our neighbours (as their backyard is entirely concrete, water from their property would drain onto ours - creating flooding).

The job involved re-sodding the backyard as well as building a drainage channel between our neighbour to channel the water to the front of the house (and street). This involved digging a trench between the properties and a dry well solution to catch and dissipate the large volume of water. We also had a number of concrete pavers and brick path next to our house that (over the years) required re-seating.

From the very start, Carlo was professional, reliable and no-nonsense. He worked with us to build a solution that we were comfortable with. While it was a few weeks before he could get started, he was in regular contact to provide updates on when his team would be able to start the job (timing was exactly what he'd originally estimated).

His team was professional and hard working. The pride of workmanship was also evident, particularly in making sure that our pavers and drainage solution were both functional AND also aesthetically pleasing. Though the work involved a lot of digging (into hard clay I might add!), the team left the area spotless.

Our backyard changed from a embarrassing eyesore to something we now look forward to spend time in!

Carlo and his team were referred to us by a Sheridan Nursersies designer. Our front yard had clay soil and brick chips from previous owners, which made weeding very difficult, and was getting to be an unmanageable eyesore!! Carlo was professional, personable and a great communicator. That is, he listened well and got back to me quickly to answer questions etc. He gave an extensive breakdown of costs that I asked for. They removed with bobcats all the clay soil and stones, replaced with new topsoil, plants, stones and mulch.
Now our front lawn looks amazing!!! Many neighbour have stopped by to ask about it. Carlo had many great suggestions and extensive plant knowledge about care and maintenance. The men on his team were diligent, good natured and polite, checking that the plants were where I wanted them.
The front yard is beautiful, inviting, low maintenance and hardy. Fabulous curb appeal!!!

We contacted Carlo at Mondo Landscapes to see if he could take on fixing up our unusable backyard. We had 2 main issues: we had replaced our mud pit a couple years ago with pea gravel, but were NOT happy with it anymore, and wanted to finally get decent sod in place. Also, we had interlock done but the original installer never put in a proper border there.

Carlo was able to come over quickly, do his assessment, talk with us about what we wanted, what our options were, and how he was going to achieve what we needed. He is very communicative, via phone and email, and emailed us a detailed quote very quickly. He even researched different sod options for us b/c we do have 2 dogs and we asked about different available varieties.

On the day the work was done, the team was VERY professional, everything went exactly according to plan, and they left us with clear care and use instructions to ensure that our sod takes good root and we will be happy with it long into the future.

We're already trying to think of other projects the Mondo team could do for us in the upcoming years!

Season 2 and Carlo and his crew of Andrew and Ryan were back again.Thankfully no rain this time.
Things were nipped and tucked and moved and groomed. Sounds like being at the Plastic Surgeons. Well, Carlo is the the Garden Doctor with his qualified team by his side.
Andrew with his great smile who should be doing toothpaste commercials and Ryan who is constantly covered in dirt like the little boy in the sandbox.
We have quite alot to garden area. Cedars bushes, spruce tree and fruit trees all were trimmed. Weeds were pulled, new beds of river rock were laid, new mulch was placed so gentley in gardens beds not to disrupt the plants.
New planting of at least 14 boxes of bulbs. The front step repaired with the interlock and wood. All debris and waste was sweeped up and removed.
We start out with a plan and before long it has been changed. I am constantly adding something to the mix. Carlo is very adaptable and takes time to listen.. I never feel like they are in a hurry just to get to another job. This way it makes for a relaxed atmosphere so that no detail is missed.
As the saying goes you get what you pay for. This is true when dealing with Mondo Landscapes.
Always remember and never forget a great job never goes unnoticed.

I said in my last years review that I support the independant business man.
The family man, the little guy providing for his family and his employees and providing his clients with hard work and good service.
This man carries a big weight on his shoulders and I am glad to have him work for me and you should be too.

Our backyard needed help badly. It was overgrown and the back area was something out of a horror movie covered with weeds and half dead plants.
Carlo is great ! We dicussed what had to be done and he gave me ideas that I never thought of. All I can say is it looks beautiful. Carlo worked out in the rain for 2 days and always had a smile on his face when I asked him something or added something to the project(which happened quite alot).

Upon meeting Carlo I knew he was someone I could Trust and want to give my business to. I like to support the small independant business man. The family man, the honest guy trying to carve his nitch in life. I cannot say more about him but the world needs more people like him. Being a woman on my own it is hard to find someone who will not take advantage of you

The job consisted of trimming large cedar bushes, trimming 9' of branches of a huge Colorado Spruce,removal of a apple tree,, weeding and clearing out plants of what I call the "back 40". That was the demolistion.
Now the rebuilding. 4 yards of pea gravel, 3 yards of mulch, 2200 lbs. of flag stone, 4 new cedar trees and about 25 or so plants.laying of patio
stones under existing cedars, 2 trips to the dump and reseeding of the lawn.
Mostly in the Rain!! The trips made with the wheel barrel to the driveway to get the gravel and mulch goes to Carlos brotherlaw Andrew.
Andrew is another one of these great guys, his smile doesn't hurt either.

Now we have a patio of flag stone inlaid in the pea gravel with gardens around the edges with 4 cedar trees on one side and 4 cedar trees on the other. All kinds of plantings that I would never get on my own such as japanese blood grass, blue grass, spirea etc.. Everything is mulched in the garden and under the Colorado Spruce. The yard is opened up now and looks great. And the "back 40" looks so good you could put it in a magazine. By the way he is coming back in a month to do interlock stairs for the front of the house. I am going to have great curb appeal when he is done.
