Advantage Moving

We used Advantage this summer and were very disappointed with the service. Communication was sketchy (as if it were a part time job), they were really, really slow, damaged some of our possessions and after the fact we discovered that some things were missing. This normal move from a 2500 sq. ft 2 story house within a 12 minute drive took 14 hours!!!!! even though we had packed very well, and purged so much because we seriously downsized. And then, at midnight when we were finally finished, they demanded cash only! Wow. Although the two guys that did the move were fine, we cannot recommend this company.

DO NOT HIRE THEM! They made my move MUCH MORE STRESSFUL than it had to be. I hired them to pack our UHaul for a move to the US. They were absolutely awful. They were 2 hours late, stunk of cigarettes so bad that I felt nauseated, they complained the whole time, they took smoke breaks, I was charged $200 more than I was quoted, they did a horrible job packing the truck (a lot of my furniture is damaged), they loaded stuff that wasn't supposed to go (even though I was clear about what was going and what wasn't...both verbally and had everything clearly labelled) that took up room for other essentials that needed to go (many items did not fit in the end that I had to leave behind, while items that I didn't even want were packed up) and they did not even have tools to dis-assemble some of the furniture. On top of all of that, THEY DID NOT EVEN FINISH THE JOB! When the truck was 3/4 of the way packed up, they told me that they had to leave. I was left (4 months pregnant) with my husband (who has a bad back) having to pack up the rest of the truck ourselves since we had to be out of the house that night. We had to clean the house ourselves after that since my cleaners arrived (on schedule) 2 hours after the movers were originally supposed to be done (but they were only half done). Even though we paid for professional cleaners, we had to do it AGAIN ourselves after these jokers left and after we finally got the rest of our stuff in the truck. It was quite possibly one of the worst experiences of my life. Kellan has not even responded to me when I told him what happened. He is not actually the one that does the move. He hires out others to do it. They are NOT the guys that you see on the website. You are welcome to call me (403) 701-4778 for more details if you are considering hiring them at all. It is worth paying a little more money to get actual professional movers.

The crew showed up on time. They also started the clock once the "game play" was discussed. It was raining at the start of the move and they attempted to move the furniture quickly into the trailer so it would not get wet or damaged. In general the move went quicker than I thought, especially the loading into the end residence. I would use them again.

I went with Advantage Moving when moving from our 1-bedroom condo to a house. I paid for a crew of two guys, for $85/hour. They don't start charging until they arrive at your house which is better than most moving companies, from what I've heard.

The guys were friendly and said we were well prepared. They properly dealt with floor runners and everything.

I felt that these guys were a little slow, and I'm not sure why. THey said a 1-bedroom place normally takes 3 to 3.5 hours, but ours took 5.5 hours. I needed the to pick up some stuff at one house, then go our condo and take everything there, so that first trip took up 1 hour. Still, they were 1 hour slower than expected.

The unloading went much faster than the loading, and they were willing to accomodate my request for certain things to be dropped off in the garage.

One of the movers put a knee through the back of my IKEA bookcase (you know that cheap wood stuff). They took $25 off my total for this mistake.

Overall, I thought Advantage was pretty decent. I was surprised by how long it took (and therefore how much it cost) and disappointed by the hole in the bookcase, but stuff happens when you move.
