My wife and I rented a cube, which was supposed to be an inexpensive and convenient way to move across long distance. The company that rented us our cube advocated that we use this company; it was the only one they recommended and they had experience loading them.
Well, they showed up late. They argued about what was allowed to go into a pod, eg: they claimed that they couldn't load a bed frame into it. Can you imagine that? Who moves a household without moving beds? They also told us that our love-seat/hide-a-bed was "low priority." The audacity of them trying to tell us how we should prioritize our own possessions is shocking.
Their manner of loading the pod suggested they knew absolutely nothing about the process. A pod has regular intervals of in-set rings in the walls, allowing you to rope off sections of the pod to make them more secure. They didn't do this once. All of our stuff is, at the end of the day, piled in a heap. Our possessions, which is to say, everything we own, looks like a dumpster inside the cube. Oh wait! Not everything we own! There was several pieces that we should have had room for, that we have to scramble to find somewhere to store, or ship or give to charity. This seems to be a common theme for these guys; they don't have the first clue about how to pack, so they leave stuff behind, and how you deal with it is your own problem.
Something else they did which I think is completely inexcusable, is they tinkered with our fixtures. Specifically, the frame for our TV stand had the screws screwed into it. For reasons I can't fathom, one of these "professional movers" unscrewed them and left them on the floor. We also will want to be able to find them when we get where we're going. Any time we've used another mover, if they felt it was necessary to do something like this, they told us what, why, and made a point of making sure those extra pieces were put in a safe place.
We wish we hadn't relied on the cube companies recommendation to hire "The Mover Guys." If we'd read the above reviews, we certainly wouldn't have.
