Kitchen windows replacement, capping and misc exterior work.

Worst experience we have had with any reno contractors. Sales consultant failed to ask some fundamental questions resulted window (one side fixed and one side operative) hinged on default side which did not suit our satiation (handle located at awkward position to operate), back and forth few emails addressing this issue, consultant admitted he presumed hinge side as warranty would be void if hinged on another side, I contacted the vendor and found this is not true (common sense, how does warranty applies for window with hinges on both sides). Then he emailed me describing how the owner was aware of my complaint but chose to ignore it. Later received a call from another co-owner saying the sales consultant is/was semi retired and somewhat explained his unprofessionalism, he apologized and promised to reorder and reinstall the window, reordered around end of Aug, window arrived end of Sep, reinstallation wasn’t available until end of Nov as the schedule lady told me they were busy. The entire lead time is longer than normal ordering and installing, not to mention this is to fix a problem caused by them. It took 6 month! from the initial install, then reorder and reinstall. Meanwhile, I hired another company to replace living room and bedrooms windows; the first question they asked after I signed the contract was “which side would you like to hinge your windows”.

This company’s business practice for ignoring and prolonging to fix problem have caused frustration and inconveniences for us. To avoid any commercial suspicious/motivation, I won’t mention the other window company who did an excellent job for complete the remaining scope. This review is for customers who values service as important as the product. In my opinion, the way a company fix a problem/complaint truly demonstrate its ethics and values, subsequently, Capitall Exterior Solutions failed in all aspects.

Update: Joe contacted me after seeing this review and discussed few issues. I do agree that he tried to fix (reorder and reinstall) the problem in lieu of doing nothing, I also think its a good thing that owner take review and customer seriously. To be fair, my complaint would be non exist if this window was in any other location in the house, but sometimes a missed small detail can change the entire outcome.

Thanks Frank. I really appreciate the fact you took the time to discuss the issues. As I mentioned to you, the frustration is high on all fronts on this one for many reasons. Because all of your paperwork outlined where the window was opening, along with the fact fact that everything was signed off after the initial installation made this one tough. Having said that, we did get you a new window completely free of charge with a new opener on the other side just to ensure you were completely satisfied. We did take a lot longer than expected and I apologize for that. That falls on me. As far as reviews go, I am happy that you are satisfied with the quality of work and the product itself. Your main area of concern was the time it took to get the new window which is understandable and we are implementing new things to alleviate that in the future. Again, thank you for discussing this with me and if you ever have my other issues please do not hesitate to let us know.

Living room and Kitchen window replacement

Pricing was very competitive. Took longer than the 6-8 weeks for install. Large living room window was installed with damage on the casing, that we are now waiting to be replaced, still hoping that works out. Called the owner to let him know it was damaged, he didn't seem to care, told us to call the office, message never got from the office to our installer. Scuff marks on our siding from the scaffold, and the shutters weren't put back right. But...very friendly, love the look of the windows, and still hoping for a happier outcome.....

Company Response

Hi Kristine,

Thank you for the review. We appreciate the feedback both positive and negative. First off, let me apologize for the lack of response on behalf of our company. It is definitely not a lack of care with regards to your request, it is just a lot faster to go through the office than directly with Craig or I for the simple fact that we are usually out in the field without access to all the paperwork and information necessary to answer direct questions with regards to installs. With that said, I can confirm that we have order a new piece of PVC stop for the damaged living room window and we will be out to fix it as soon as it arrives. I will also make sure the installer fixes the scuff marks on the siding and replaces the shutters properly. All of this can and will be completed when we come back to fix the window. Again, I promise we will fix anything you have issues with, we just have to wait for the part from the supplier. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at anytime at 780-757-3930.

Whole home windows and doors

Several windows in our house needed to be replaced due to condensation problems in the winter. Capitall came in and gave us a very reasonable quote to replace all the windows and exterior doors. The windows were delivered and installed in a relatively short time and we have been happy with the windows for 2+ years now. The pièce de résistance is our front door which we love and always generates "oooh"s and "aaah"s by visitors.

We did have a few troubles, however. The first was that the guys that finished up the trim around the windows during the installation were a little sloppy. I'm not sure if they were Capitall guys are if they were subbed out, but there were several exposed nails, some things slightly mis-aligned and just generally not done as well as we would have liked. We pointed these things out to the Capitall team and there was really nothing they could do about it which was a little disappointing (hence the 4 out of 5 stars for satisfaction).

On the flip side, the install team has been very responsive as we have called a number of times for other relatively minor issues and they always show up with a smile and make whatever adjustments are necessary. They were just here a few weeks ago...2+ years after the final sale and install, so that is definitely great service!

Hi Jeff. Thanks for the review. We really appreciate the comments and the feedback. In Response to your comments, the crew would have been our employees as we do not sub any work out. That being said, I am sorry to hear about the lack of care taken in the finishing of the windows. If there is anything we can do to make it right for you, please let me know and I will ensure we get it fixed for you to your satisfaction. Again, we really appreciate the feedback and comments.

replace windows

They were such a great group of people to deal with. Always friendly and actually called you back! They were a little late getting here on install day, but they called andto let us know they would be. The owner of compay came to work on our house too! Don't see that often. They stayed late to get the job done for us and cleaned up beautifully. Vacuumed and everything. There was a problem with the basement windows, but they came back as soon as they had time and fixed everything.

Siding, insulation, gutters, soffit, fascia

After meeting with several contractors and becoming very discouraged with prices, reviews, etc - we discovered Homestars and Capitall Exterior Solutions. After meeting with Joe and discussing materials, colours, and the installation process - we received a no-nonsense quote. Installation and materials was as promised and the project was completed on time with great workmanship. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone looking for exterior renovations. The price was very reasonable when compared to other quotes and the follow-up has been great.

Windows and Doors Replacement

ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Our problem patio door has been replaced and not in a snowstorm thank goodness :) We are more than pleased with the fixing of our problem. As always the personnel we have dealt with at Capitall Exterior have been top notch and we would highly recommend them.

UPDATE: My review has changed mainly due to an issue with the manufacturer of the patio doors we received. The patio door that was the problem upon installation will continue to be a problem. On our cold winter days, frost would form on the seam of the door where the glass meets the picture frame part and at the bottom where it was placed on the original door frame when the other door from the same manufacturer was cut out due to defect/damage. You can feel air where it was cut if the wind is coming from the right direction. Thinking refusal of the product would have been the proper way to go but were trying to be accommodating due to the distance traveled and time already spent. None of the other doors or windows had frost on them. Have been in contact with pictures back when the frost was forming last winter but nothing has been resolved as of yet. Am still feeling ggrrrr about doors not framed for 2x6 which really should have been addressed prior to ordering. If windows and entry doors are ordered for 2x6 - wouldn't you question your final order if the patio doors didn't match ? And if the doors had to change to a different look and manufacturer - that would be the route to take.

We took on a major project this year with the renovating/updating of our acreage property. Within a day or so of researching online, Joe drove the 1.5 hrs out to meet us. He was really good to deal with and provided pricing on the spot - which I liked. None of this waiting weeks for a price and then you wonder; maybe they don't want to drive that distance. Not the case with Capitall.
We were changing out 4 entry doors, adding 2 storm doors, replacing 3 patio doors and a total of 19 windows throughout the property. The installation ended up being split up due to arrival of some product while waiting for the balance to arrive. Didn't bother us. Besides, that would have been too much to do in one day - especially with the snow that always seemed to occur the day they were coming out. The installer, Terence was awesome to deal with and he himself was not happy with 2 of the patio doors due to manufacturer defects and said they would be replaced which they were. Gotta love attention to detail when we are exactly the same way - you pay good money for something; it should be right. Too many companies out there are of the "good enough" mentality - if the homeowner doesn't say anything; keep your mouth shut !
Our only irk in the whole process is the patio doors. They are not built for 2x6 framing. Manufacturer only builds for 2x4 framing. Kinda crazy. Terence did finish them off with same sand color blocking. Anyone looking at them would know nothing - but we know. When the replacement patio doors showed up there was still an issue with one. Terence ended up doing another trip out to service that door. Think he could drive there with his eyes closed at this point. They even brought out some mdf to trim out the cabin windows - we'll be changing that out. Not all Ben's fault.....haha. Cabin was built in 1950's - you get what you get.
With changing out the windows and also adding blinds, the house has been very cool this summer. Waiting to see what winter brings but don't anticipate too much issue - and if there is, we know Capitall will be out to service their products.
Because Capitall is an Exterior Solution company, we also did some work on our chimney chase with Quality Stone. The chase went up about 25' off the deck. As we were doing this same stone on the interior, we thought it would look sssooooo good to do on the outside but neither my husband or I will do heights. Terence to the rescue again ! Craig and Mikey came out one weekend with Terence to tackle that job for us. Truly genuine, awesome guys - even Mikey..... :) Unfortunately for them, it was one of the hottest weekends of the summer and the chase is on the south side of the house ! Fantastic and honest people to deal with. Too bad they don't do metal roofs - that is our next step. Thanks again guys for all you have done -- so far....

Hello Jeff,

First off let me apologize for the delay in responding to this review. I believe we have been out to your home to fix the leaking issues since the date of this review, so I hope everything has worked out for those issues. In regards to the bevels on your glass in your bay configuration, again I apologize as that type of glass takes a long time to produce and we are at the mercy of our supplier. Bottom line Jeff, we dropped the ball on this for you and I am truly sorry about that. I think the worst part of the whole thing is the lack of communication on our end letting you know what is going on. Rest assured I have dealt with the issues first hand and hopefully this type of thing will not happen again. We are scheduled to be out at your place to replace the glass with the new bevels in the coming weeks, if you have any other issues with any other part of your installation or windows please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Sincerely,

Joe Quintilio

Entire exterior

Joe is a stand up guy and helped us from the beginning until the end. The house looks unreal and these guys installed all of our doors, windows, siding, eves/soffit/fascia within two working weeks! The guys cleaned up after the job and made appropriate changes where required. Impressed and hope that the product won't disappoint come winter. Thank you guys again for the level of professionalism and craftsmanship you provided.

Replaced living room windows

My 4 living room windows were replaced last spring so this is the first winter. What a difference - no cold air. I was impressed with the simple solution Craig had for the exterior of my home - replacing the trim around the windows and on the front of the house. I was also very pleased that the installers were able to use my old trim on the interior. Great job. Thanks.

Windows, Insulation,siding & eavestroughing renovationvation

Craig, Joe, Lynette and the team of Capitall Exterior Solutions are one of the finest people to work with. It was great to watch the 3 separate crews work diligently through inclement weather, and deadlines without compromising on quality. They did their utmost to completely transform our home and make it look it's best. We especially appreciated their attention to details, advice, professionalism and kindness. Lynette was especially helpful with all the financing details and questions that came up. The staff were very kind, respectful, and a real pleasure to do business with. Everyone knows that renos can be nerve racking, and sometimes things can "go awry", but Capitall took care of our needs, through the whole journey! A huge thank you to Joe and Craig that really turned an "awkward" situation into a "REAL IMPRESSIVE and BEYOND EXPECTATION" outcome. To those seeking an honest, affordable and very qualified company to do their renos, we HIGHLY recommend Capitall to take care of your home reno needs. A number ONE company!
