Needed to replace two furnaces in my house. Reviewed all furnace brand models and received several quotes. Went with Reliance The Furnace Company (Costco Installation Services), because the estimator was knowledgeable and went through exactly what was to be done, because of my concerns with installation and various furnace model operation/performance. As well, liked the Costco cash back and they had good reviews. Had two EL96V furnaces installed with two stage thermostats, at the beginning of October. Got into an argument with installer about piping through basement wall, which estimator said all piping would go through chase to roof. Installers ran all piping through roof and completed a nice, clean installation. Thanked them with a gift card. Then was told that we had to purchase a yearly maintenance plan, to keep our warranty. The estimator never mentioned this and it was not on quote. Turned on continuous fans, found basement fan really high. Read manual and turned down fan speed. Noticed the furnaces had not been set up for two stage thermostats. Left a message with estimator. No returned phone call. Next day upstairs furnace making loud noises. Called 24hr service. Servicemen to house, was told something in exhaust fan due to install and would clear. Next day upstairs furnace not working. Servicemen came again, said thermostat non-functioning and replaced. That evening upstairs furnace again making noise. Servicemen came once again, said condensate drain not sloped properly, noise was water boiling in exchanger and upstairs thermostat was single stage. Tech properly sloped drain to pump and was told to set up an appointment to install proper thermostat and set up furnaces. Two weeks later tech came to replace thermostat and was told to just replace thermostat. I explained my dealings and tech agreed, reluctantly because he was very busy, to set up furnaces. Tech set up both furnaces and installed two stage thermostat, but forgot to complete installer set up on basement thermostat, which I did.
In conclusion, If I didn't have a technical background, I wouldn't have been aware of all this. Would have appreciated a check up call after the install. I wonder how many other people are not getting what they paid for. This trouble wasn't worth the $1500 from Costco. Should have gone with a different Lennox dealer. Posted this same review on the Lennox site, but highly doubt you will see it.
