I initially didn’t want to write this review, but after months of thinking it over, I’ve decided to because I want to prevent the next person from making the same mistake we did. We walked into the store with the intention of looking for a hot tub and not necessarily purchasing it until Zana had thrown out some great numbers and continued to offer us discounts until finally with my kids nagging and the “good deal” we were presented - that we finally agreed. After signing the contract and putting a deposit of $1,000, we left the store thinking that 2 months later (which is the delivery date we agreed to) we would be soaking up in a great hot tub. We also had initially agreed with Zana that we would be financing the hot tub. Closer to 2 months later, I had called to set up the delivery date. Zana said we needed to complete the application for the financing first which was not a problem….until I found out a couple of days later I was denied. This was a huge shock for me as I have never been denied anything credit wise. So because of this, we decided to forego the purchase of the hot tub. Well little did we know that by signing the contract we agreed to purchase the hot tub whether or not we were approved for financing. I depended on the financing as I did not have the cash to purchase the hot tub outright. I had talked with Zana after finding out after I was denied the financing - if there was anything I could do to forego the purchase of the hot tub as I knew if I were to go to another lender that their interest rate would be exponential. Zana had basically told me that there was nothing he could do that if I did not abide by the contract, that he would send me to collections. Furthermore, all sales were final and deposits were non-refundable. This ruined me for days after as I had a huge tax bill that I had to pay. Zana knew I was desperate to get out of this. I even offered to have them keep my deposit but he did not accept even that. What ended up happening was that I ended up applying for a different lender (from which Zana recommeded) which I eventually got approved for. However interest rate was 11.99%. Receiving the hot tub was no longer exciting, I actually dreading receiving it. I wanted nothing to do with this company after but I did have to talk to Zana again regarding set up and chemicals needed etc. I told him exactly how I felt and definitely tried to understand his point of view as a business owner. What I still don’t continue to understand is the wording of the contract and how it was solely for the company’s benefit. I still believe there should still be some middle ground if a customer decides to back out of it. I was willing to lose my deposit in order forego the purchase of the hot tub. My advice to whoever decides to purchase a hot tub from here, please read the contract before you sign. If you are ok with your deposit being non-refundable, having to purchase the hot tub whether or not your approved for financing etc., then by all means go ahead with this company. If you are reading this, you are probably doing your research which is a good thing. My question to Factory Hot Tubs – where is middle ground so that there is some fairness to both customers and company without us being obligated to make such a big purchase? Maybe if the customer decides to cancel last min that they should forego their deposit, or AT LEAST have us qualify for the financing FIRST before we sign the contract for the purchase of the hot tub, NOT the other way around. In terms of my satisfaction with the hot tub itself – we purchased the 748B Deluxe. I like it, however, I am about 5’0 height wise so I find the corner seats to be so low that I have to sit with my legs crossed on it in order to have my head above the water. Other then that I have no complaints with the hot tub itself.
