Roofing

Due to a leak caused by faulty roofing installed by Uber Roofing, there was water damage on the kitchen ceiling of a customer's home. After Rick (owner) repaired the roof he agreed to pay my company $500 to repair the damage to the inside of the home. Three times he apologized and said he had the cheque in the mail. That was 11 months ago now and Rick will not even answer my calls. Very unprofessional.

New Roof

I was impressed most with Uber out of the 3 contractors we had over to discuss redoing the roof. Chris was very good in showing us the products (we went with the 50 yr shingles) and he even talked to our insurance company regarding a discrepancy in measurement and got more money from them for us. They set out a contract and stuck to it, however afterwards, I saw our gutters were full of nails and there were little piles of nails on the ground. I stepped on one as well...this was after they cleaned up. When the tiles were delivered, some of our soffit was damaged which Rick said would be repaired asap, no problem. After repeated attempts at asking if it could be repaired, I would get the odd response saying they would come soon. Well, here we are a year later and it's not done. There was some other work that they were going to contract out to someone in order to fix a few things on the roof...never heard about this again. We didn't pay for this part, so that's fine, but it was in the contract but never mentioned again. I think the work they did was solid and I appreciate all the communication during the process, but once the final cheque was given, that was it. And that really sucks, so that's why I wouldn't really recommend them.

House and Garage Re-Roof

***UPDATE JUNE 12, 2014***
It has been almost a year since I posted the review below... And I am STILL waiting on Rick to come and fix the leaking skylights. I have made multiple phone calls, sent emails... The last response I got was in January saying it was too cold to fix the problem. Rick has made zero effort to fix the issue or get in touch with me. I have dropped the rating - avoid Uber Roofing!!!
****************************************************
At first - I was really impressed with Uber Roofing. Chris came in with their estimate, and I was really impressed with the professionalism of the estimate, and the fair price.
I would, however, have a few reservations about using Uber again for the things that happened after the agreement was signed. Rick called and insisted on doing our roof during a warm week in January... I was hesitant but he insisted that it would be OK. The did the work fast, and it appears to be a solid job... But there are the little details that seemed to go ignored. My wife witnessed a worker jumping between our house roof and garage roof - not the safest practice, even thought it's a short distance. After the work was done and we paid up - the follow up customer service is weak. Once the snow melted we discovered a ton of roofing nails around our property and asked Rick to come by with a magnet. He told us he would come and then never showed.... And never called to reschedule. I recently discovered that our gutters were full of stuff from the roofing job - when part of the contract said they clean the gutters when the job was done. It obviously wasn't done properly. The final concern - a big rainstorm revealed leaks around our skylights... They never leaked before the new roof was installed.
I have just contacted Rick with my concerns above, so I can't comment on how great the follow up will be... But I would say that once you pay your bill with Uber, don't expect to hear from them again. A check in on the roof, and for them to actually give all the services that were promised would have been great.

Roofing

EDIT
**********************
Approx a week after posting this, Rick came by my office to apologize and reimburse me the balance of our transaction. Chalk it up to an honest mistake. I was initially really happy with Uber Roofing, just that last loose end that left me sour. I still think they're good people who have hopefully figured out a better method for handling their To-Do list more effectively. A year later, the fact that he showed up, cash in hand, and an apology says a lot and was greatly appreciated.

END EDIT
**********************

Professional and personable at first, but towards the end, difficult to contact and left me frustrated. They got my trust and I believed them when they said the cheques in the mail regarding returned product. I phoned multiple times and I'm still waiting for the cheque like a sucker. It's been a year and they still owe me money. Avoid them.

Roof Repair

I would not recommend this company. I had a wind damaged roof in March 2012 that Uber repaired. This was the original roof on the house, not installed by Uber. At the time the response was fairly quick, starting work within 2 weeks.

In November of 2012, I noticed additional tile damage.. I wasn't sure if they were the tiles replaced by Rick, or new ones. After multiple texts over a 5 month period to ask about his warranty policy and arrange for him to come by, Rick came back and did the repair in March of 2013; and offered to glue down the rest of the tiles on my roof (tabbing). I found out afterwards that the damaged tiles were not the ones he originally repaired, however my frustration is with the fact it took him 5-6 months to respond, and lack of communication.

I think if you have a large job to complete, and you get a written estimate and hard timelines (dependent on weather of course), Uber might be an option.
However for smaller jobs, or if you don't have a written commitment, expect poor communication and the work to drag on.

Residential Roof

Stay away from Uber and Rick. We had him start work on our roof and they never came back to finish it. Rick didn't return phone calls, he was misleading, and we had a horrible experience. We finally had to hire someone else to finish our roof.

New Roof

I was referred to this company via a friend and cannot be happier with there approach. Chris and Rick both take great care and provide a professional approach often not found. There are several roofing contractors in Calgary and these folks stand out above the rest in their approach. They exclusively sell Malarkey products. I opted for the 50 year legacy shingles and combined with Uber's 10 year warranty I hope to have many years without roof problems. I would not hesitate to recommend Uber to anyone considering a new roof.
